Protests need to be mounted against such punishments. This violates all tenets of human rights and religious freedom and in my mind, no Islamic regime anywhere should be allowed to get away with executing people who convert to other religions.

Even in the most democratic, tolerant forms of Islam the penalty of one who leaves Islam is death. There are different words for apostate in Islamic law. One who leaves Islam is called a murtad and a murdad should be killed, according to Islamic law. This is a very clear point in Islam, the religion of peace.

I thought the IRS had a corner on this type of brutality.

We should not give them any ideas. The IRS comes close now. When I lived in Vegas, a memo from the IRS leaked out. It said never to negotiate a time table for payment, but to "drag the bloody body into the street so the neighbors could see it".

It's their country, it's none of my business.

Their is also the idea of opposing evil. I'm not saying send troops, but if our President, or a Koffi Annan were simply to speak and say this is unacceptable it would have an affect. Unfortunately, the world is silent to the brutality of Islam in order not to offend anyone. If these were blacks killed in apartheid South Africa this would be front page headlines and the "world community" would be in an uproar.

You might as well suggest that if cannibalism is legal in a country that it is none of our business, also.

I believe it's unacceptable and justifies great foreign policy pressure to put an end to such fanatical laws which violate human rights and religious freedoms.

The "world community" could at the very least make this known to the world and issue a condemnation, threaten sanctions, threaten no more aid. The UN seems to be afraid of the Muslims.

They ignore this and they ignore Mugabe. Le Pen is, in their minds, the clear and present danger to civilization.

I agree with you, and I see where you're coming from. But where I lose you is why don't you think our President could at least issue a condemnation to the fact that two people are about to lose their lives because they committed the "crime" of converting to Christianity.

Your remark is right on target.

The US President, the UN president, all religious leaders including the pope, and all the leaders of the free world should roundly condemn this act.

ISLAM IS A BARBARIC CULT.

Where's the UN? Oh how silly of me - Muslims are not being killed, so everything is A-OK.
