These are the changes that Jean-Marie Le Pen would seek to make if elected president of France, according to his campaign web site, www.lepen.tv :

o Outlaw abortion and end official recognition of same-sex unions.

o Develop programs to increase the birth rate and pay benefits to women who stay at home with their children.

o End legal immigration.

o Deport illegal immigrants and eliminate dual nationality.

o Give French citizens priority for all jobs and public housing; create a separate medical benefits system for foreigners working in France, so that French tax money would not be used for foreigners' care.

o Allow only French citizens to teach in French schools.

o Reinstitute morality classes; require student participation in patriotic events and holidays.

o Outlaw the wearing of yarmulkes and Muslim headscarves in schools.

o Create 200,000 new prison beds.

o Expand and give new rights to the police force.

Good points, and, while I am hardly an Afrocentrist, I will readily acknowledge black contributions to America, not the least of which have been fighting and dying for the US military. American blacks have a vested interest in this nation; they have roots here, and are as American as anyone else here.

Not the same situation in France; France is for the French, is not a nation of immigrants, and Muslims therein are nothing more than an army of infilitration, soon to become one of actual invasion.

We are paid benefits for my wife staying home here in the USA. Before she stayed home with the kids we had to pay out at least $2000 in taxes above withholding Since she stays home we get way more than that back in our refund check. Neither one of us has ever been on welfare or taken any government handout. To me that is a great benefit. Even in light of the fact that our taxes are still too high.

Most of this sounds great, but he goes off the fascist deep end with two provisions, the one about expanding police power and the one about forcing students to participate in "patriotic activities." When I think of organizations that require participation in patriotic activities the Hitler Youth and the Communist Cadres quickly come to mind. I strongly support patriotic activities, and have no problem with schools offering these activities and encouraging students to attend, but when a person, student or adult, is forced to attend a "patriotic activity" it flies in the face of democratic ideals.

If you notice, Le Pen is a culturally conservative statist, yet that is enough to warrant being labelled a far rightist.Whatever....He's no different that Juan Peron, but his break with the Left is over multiculturalism.That should tell all where the Left gains most of its support and where it is also at its most vulnerable:-)

BTW, current French law bars the wearing of yarmulkes and headscarves in French public schools. LePen would merely be preserving existing law in that circumstance.

Both of my grandmothers, neither one of them Muslim, wore headscarves at times. This has been both a Jewish and a Christian custom pretty much all along. Where do they suppose the Muslims got the idea? And why outlaw yarmulkes? To be "even handed" or something? Or is it just not French enough?

Let's 'word it' properly. The 'Child Care Credit' to Save Social Security. We need future American workers to pay into Social Security. Stay at home moms will be considered by the state as a licensed day care provider and will receive appropriate subsidies and tax incentives. {;~)
