Harding Cited for Drunken Driving
Sat Apr 20, 9:04 PM ET
BATTLE GROUND, Wash. (AP) - Former figure skater Tonya Harding (news - web sites) was cited for drunken driving early Saturday after she crashed her pickup into a ditch, police said.Neither Harding nor her passenger was hurt in the 1:30 a.m. accident, in Battle Ground, just northwest of Portland, Ore.
Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff's office who arrived on the scene thought Harding appeared under the influence of alcohol, and she failed a field sobriety test and breath test.
Authorities did not release Harding's blood-alcohol content.
Harding's life has taken several bizarre and sad turns since she was implicated in the 1994 knee-whacking of rival skater Nancy Kerrigan (news - web sites). Two years ago, she was sentenced to three days in jail for hitting her boyfriend with a hubcap during a drunken argument.
In January, a judge ordered her to vacate her home near Camas, Wash., for failing to pay rent and late fee totaling $4,530.
Last month, Harding achieved a triumph of sorts when she pummeled Paula Jones in the ring during Fox's "Celebrity Boxing" special. Physically fit and appearing to relish playing up her notorious persona, Harding chased the cowering Jones all over the ring, and the spectacle drew more than 15 million viewers.
Harding was banned for life by the U.S. Figure Skating Association for her role in the 1994 attack on Kerrigan at the U.S. championships in Detroit. Harding, a two-time U.S. champion, claimed former husband Jeff Gillooly came up with the plot and carried it out with friends.
Harding was convicted of hindering prosecution, fined $110,000 and ordered to perform 500 hours of community service.
Kerrigan recovered in time to finish second in the Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. Harding finished eighth.

This woman gives trailer park rednecks a bad name. She recently was prosecuted for beating up her boyfriend with a hubcap while she was drunk. Now she crashed her pickup truck while drunk. Anybody see a pattern here? It's time to lay off the booze, Tonya.

Didn't her 15 minutes of fame clock run out a long time ago? Hey, she's allowed to extend it. I like Tonya. You just have to know how to handle a woman like that. :)

In a strange way, I like Tonya Harding. At least she's real. Also, I never liked that horsehead Nancy Kerrigan anyway ;)

If I were Tonya, I would cite the case of the Clark County deputy prosecutor Rich Lowrie who blew a .28 last year and didn't even have to attend the DUI course. No charges, no suspension, no nothing other than a comment by the prosecutor that he was a really good guy who made a simple mistake and no further action would be taken.
Clark County, WA, is run by a bunch of racketeers led by the corrupt drunkard superior court judge Robert L. Harris.
This statement would be defamatory, except for the fact that it is true; and I can prove it.

I think Tonya's lawyer will be calling you as a witness.
"CASE DISMISSED!"

I guess we need her for comic relief. It is such a shame that she wasted all that talent.

Harding was banned for life by the U.S. Figure Skating Association for her role in the 1994 attack on Kerrigan at the U.S. championships in Detroit. Compared to the behavior of today's professional athletes, Harding got a raw deal.

Doesn't have to call me. All he has to do is read the newspaper. Then there is the Clark County Shefiff, the corrupt Garry Lucas, who eluded a police officer almost four years ago, and even though he admitted the facts, Internal Affairs declined to make a criminal referral because it was just one person's word against another's. Next time I get a traffic ticket, I am going to haul out that report and say "Well, your honor, it's one person's word against anothers. If it works for the sheriff in a Class-B felony case, it should work for me in a traffic case."
