You are simply making up answers to fit your beliefs that Bush is not doing what is in the national interest.

The responses that I have gotten from my congressmen are what I believe is the situation and reflect what I have written.

Open immigration may have been challenged by knee jerk reactionaries (including myself) since 9/11 but few in congress are willing to outright advocate curtailing it. They do advocate a much higher degree of control, and are working toward that goal. Perhaps another terror attack involving middle east immigrants with temporary visas would change the mood. Until the general mood changes, I doubt they will do anything that would involve suspending the laws. They will tinker with enforcement though.

You couldn't be more wrong. The vast majority of Americans would have applauded the Administration if it had shut down immigration from Terrorist Nations and Congress would have been under great pressure if they tried to stymie Bush on this...especially in the first election after 9/11.

Your thinking indicates to me that you believe we live and operate under a democracy. We do not.

Our elected leaders often ingnore some demands from voters no matter how many voices are involved. It takes alot more balls to do that then to go which ever way the wind blows. Borders and global trade are intertwined. If you don't know how and why, I am not going to explain it here. Perhaps a subject to peruse at a later time. It is sufficient to say that much larger goals and purposes are at work here and it is not the simple issue that you make it out to be. Nuff said.
