There were more enemies of America at that rally than in all of Iran. I did derive humor from the morons, though.

I just called my dad, and he said that he lived about 8-10 blocks from Hayward, but he doesn't really remember Montrose.

They were on the third floor (I think) of a brownstone at 500 (?) Bedford Avenue, and they moved to Queen in 3/55. If you ever want to see the photos I took there last summer, just let me know. :-)

Well, if you're going to bring sex into this, let's make it Elle McPherson or Margot Kidman.

As for needing to declare martial law for halting immigration from the Middle East don't make me laugh

To my knowledge, Bush cannot circumvent a law made by congress unless he does it under war powers(which were not granted to him)or a act of Congress. I can see Congress putting a hold on only immigration from the evil empires but they do not have political cover to do more.

Immigration is a political hot potato. No matter what you do, someone is POd. The Mexicans have lodged a complaint with the American goverment for arresting those illegals in the Phoenix airport last week.(just a minor example) And they had falsified documentation!(surprise!)

This stuff takes time.

Don't know about Catholic Workers, but I did see Pastors for Peace advocating the destruction of Israel and the freeing of the 'oppressed' cop-killers, Mumia and H. Rapp Brown.

Y'know, I agreee with you about Wilson Goode, the erstwhile imperial mayor of Philadelphia, except for one thing: Move in 1985 was not an entirely local op. Phila. police used state helicopters and C-4, plus logistical and comm support, for the assault. I cannot believe the State Police did not object...

Yeah, I thought the action against move was a tad extreme too, then I learned the neighbors who lost homes to the fire too were glad to have sacraficed their homes to rid themselves of MOVE.

Back then (SO long ago now, 1985..) when I wanted to admire them (MOVE) I remember some talk shows where they argued thier case. Only they didn't argue, they spit. In my commie fog it hit me that they didn't really mourn their dead, either. Pretty damn spooky.

Then some Faulkner wannabe wrote a novel about it all (Wideman?) and I tried to read it.

Sheesh. My wasted youth.

You underestimate the powers of presidency in a time of crisis. Why I don't know. What I said about shutting down immigration from terrorist nations is a relatively easy move for Bush. Tell me, if Bush did the right thing and stopped immigration from these nations do you honestly believe Congress would have fought Bush on this and be clamoring for more immigration from countries like Saudi Arabia? LOL.

Do you think for onr New York minute that congress would curb immigration from the Middle East and risk being labeled as racist, hate mongers by the left? Don't you believe that congress critters each have a large base of immigrants in their districts and that the profiling word would surface like a attack sub.

It would be amusing to watch but you will never see it unless it is done gradually and without fanfare. You far underweight the pro-immigration forces in this country and the role that it plays worldwide.

You couldn't be more wrong. The vast majority of Americans would have applauded the Administration if it had shut down immigration from Terrorist Nations and Congress would have been under great pressure if they tried to stymie Bush on this...especially in the first election after 9/11. Even then, Bush could have bypassed Congress entirely and acted unilaterally on the (very solid) grounds of national security…that’s if he had a pair. Don’t underestimate the fact that in poll after poll Americans say they want immigration reform. The real problem is that Bush himself is an advocate of open borders; so the massive invasion of the 3rd World into America will continue ad infinitum until something motivates our government to stop its suicidal behavior.

Given the horrors of 9/11 it would most definitely sell to the electorate, shrill voices of the left notwithstanding. The race card has been so overused it no longer has the intimating effect it once had. Most people in this new era intuitively understand that unrestrained immigration has put this country in great peril.

Don't you believe that congress critters each have a large base of immigrants in their districts and that the profiling word would surface like a attack sub.

Muslims originating from the Middle East make up less than 2 percent of the national electorate. In most congressional districts their influence would be negligible.

It would be amusing to watch but you will never see it unless it is done gradually and without fanfare. You far underweight the pro-immigration forces in this country and the role that it plays worldwide.

The pro-immigration forces are a very small slice of the electorate and are miniscule compared to the citizens that want far less immigration. Who cares what they say anyway when the security of this nation is at risk? Don't kid yourself, the president and the party would pick up more considerably more support by acting in the best interests of America rather than endlessly pandering to every ethnic minority group in the country.
