That's pretty much true of all our rallies. FR's audience is not that big. That's why we need to partner with other organizations.

"Free Republic is full of patriotic individuals who are willing to pitch in for the cause."

I agree. Regardless, as you should surmise, my reference to the many "fat and happy" (post #512) was regarding the metro D.C. area residents in the tri-state area who are within less than a two hour commute to downtown DC. Many of the FReepers I saw there Saturday were from as far away as West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and even NYC. If some of them were willing to sacrifice even just a one day road trip down here, just where the heck was everyone else?

Even though I was not involved at all in the planning nor execution of this mega-FReep, Patriots Rally, I truly empathize with how disappointed some of them may feel that the turnout wasn't any better than it was. And, I wouldn't blame any of those who were there last Saturday for somehow feeling like David in his fight against Goliath.

And that's another reason why I feel that those who did follow the D.C. Chapter's leadership and showed up last Saturday were truly representive of the spirit of those militia men who stood on Lexington Green, April 19, 1775 against the redcoats. True Patriots, every single one of them. And I truly believe that even if the Park Police hadn't been there, the D.C. Chapter FReepers and allies (including the TRT) would have stood their ground against the mob, just like the they had during the dark days (years) of FReeping Clintonista/Goron rule and during the election aftermath.

Actually, truth be told, and despite all my earlier rhetoric, I was darn lucky that my wife agreed to take our youngest daughter to her soccer game that day. Otherwise, I would've missed all the fun downtown, too (he sheepishly admits) :-)

My wife has been talking about the rally non-stop since we returned to Tennessee Saturday night. All she gets from people (besides shock at the conduct of the left) is "wish I'd been there". That's cool, folks...I'm making a list...heh, heh, heh...

Free The Hostages,

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I enjoy freeping as often as I can. For me, it goes beyond stating simple slogans, it's about messing with their heads (not that their professors, their media outlets, and various controlled substances haven't done that enough already).

Did we meet on Saturday? Which one were you?

Sorry we didn't get to meet on Saturday. Hope you all enjoyed your time in D.C., despite the stench from the "other side." ;-)

On another humorous note, since my wife is aware that I know the city like the back of my hand, all she did say to me, as I headed out the door Saturday morning, was "DON'T get arrested!" And this was only because I've recently been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis and can't run from the police and other protestors as fast as I used to be able to. LOL.

Every freakin' rest area all the way to NYC had hundreds of terrorists clogging up the coffee lines and doing their friggin' prayers in the parking lots.

Salami, salami, baloney, Allah, I need a bath...

Hopefully my schedule will be clear so that I can roll up the N.J. Turnpike through Bergen County, Bergen Fields, Bergen Point, Bergen Beach, Bergen Lake, Bergenfield, Bergenville, Bergen City, Bergentown, and Bergenburg to NYC to counter them!

With the Capitol in the background, paraplegics from the Lives in the Balance group "hang" around Thursday, April 18, 2002 during a demonstration to urge the Senate not to ban therapeutic cloning for stem cell research.

Who said the handicapped couldn't support our country's scientific barbarians?!? Say "hi" to Christopher Reeve (an otherwise exemplary human being) for me!

Not a single one of us are disappointed - we all have talked many times over the phone and have been in constant contact via FReepmail since the conclusion of the rally. To a person we are very satisfied with the results and have nothing but great praise for those that showed up, those that supported us financailly, and those that gave us so much moral support before and after the rally. No empathy needed here my old friend.

I second that, Dave. The anti-war/anti-American, pro-Palestinian/pro-terrorist groups across the street on the Elipse were not unopposed. Thanks to all who stood up for America and our troops and made the Patriots Rally for America a success.

The Patriots Rally for America was a resounding success! I am so happy I took the time and effort to be there.

Kentucky was represented by LocDoc and me and our friends.
