How to build a "Guy's Car":
1. Two doors only.
2. Rear/four-wheel drive. NO frontwheelers, please.
3. AMERICAN MADE V-8 or better to provide power.
4. There can never be enough horses.
5. Measure engine displacement in cubic inches, not (French-inspired) litres.
6. Make it loud...in paint, engine noise, and chrome.
7. Put it in a movie, driven by Burt Reynolds, Steve McQueen, H.B. Halicki, or Mel Gibson.
8. Above all, Make it in the U.S.A.

How about my BMW735i. A guy car.
Well, maybe, but my neighbor is like 80 years old and she drives a 740il. I know it's ageist, and I apologize if I offend anyone, but nothing quite disabuses you of the notion that you drive a cool car as seeing an elderly person behind the wheel of the same model.

I should qualify this by saying that there's an exception when the vehicle is a classic car of the '50s or '60s and the elderly driver is the original owner. In that case, the car and owner are both still very cool.

Okay boys and girls, it's quiz time!! This is an interesting test. Stare at the photo and see if you can locate the automobile that is hidden somewhere in the picture.
Time yourself.
Interestingly, women tend to find the auto faster than men.
Average time for men: 7 minutes, 22 seconds.
Average time for women, 1.39 seconds.
Take The Test!

You want a guy car? How about an Escalade EXT. It's fast, it's big, it's intimidating, it can haul stuff, and it costs more than a chick could conceive spending on a vehicle. It was about 35 years ago on the streets of Monterey, California, of all places, that I saw the ultimate "guy car"; a 1951 Lime green Henry J. jacked up on a CJ-5 chassis with 11.00X15X36 "Dog-bone" Goodyears with an Enderle injector poking through the hood sitting on top of a 6-71 "Jimmy" blower mounted on a 392 Chrysler "Hemi."
Had a Monterey Blue and White right behind.

"Real men drive pickup trucks."
Real men drive vehicles that can seat their entire families. Sorry, kids are more important than a load of manure. :) (Ignore if you are a farmer, construction worker, etc.)

I'll tell you a guy's car: 1957 Hillman Minx, 4-cylinder, 4-speed (on the column, no less). Now THAT is a man's car. No woman could ever drive it.

Steve McQueen is probably the only movie star to have driven race cars with the big boys in some of the major race circuits. He still does reasonably well. Steve McQueen has not done "reasonably well" for about 15 years; seems he fought a losing battle with mesothelioma, a disease that the CDC had never previously documented in a non-asbestos worker related diagnosis; they offered, by way of apology a tentative link to the scuffed-off asbestos from brake linings due mostly to his penchant for off-road dirtbike racing and roughing and occasional forays into auto racing. Didn't stick then, doesn't now, but funding is always important at budget time.
By the way, the Mustang front suspension had to be rebuilt after every take, while the Dodge never even fatgued either torsion bar; McQueen was a superior driver and a dedicated daredevil, but in the end, the Devil got his due.

Subaru outbacks are also big among the ultra leftists in Ithaca, NY.

Hey, I had a 1966 Ford Mustang back in the 60's and early 70's! Still have the key to it, and if I ever find it, it will be mine again! It is not just a guy car!
To: AFVetGal
an F-150 is a sissy truck....my riding lawn mower can haul a bigger payload in it's trailer than an F-150 and can outrun it too!!!!
