My oldest son made a comment that has had me thinking. We were talking about the loss of life that day, and he said,
"It's bad enough they killed us, what's worse is they killed our guests."
The line of people waiting to go to the Observation platform. Behind them is the Memorial Wall in front of St. Paul church, where couselling is being offered.

Close up of the Memorial Wall

The Battery Park Memorial dedicated the morning we were there. It's the Sculpure representing World Peace that was in the Fountain area of the WTC.

And finally, the Lower Manhattan skyline, taken from the Statue of Liberty ferry on a very dismal day. I sobbed when I saw the gap in the skyline, and our wonderful symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty.
Life will never be the same.
Will you put me in your will??? :O)
Good morning you two. :-)
I agree about the large and numerous graphics being a problem. I have DSL but, as you both know, I was stuck last week with a slow computer and an even slower connection. Opening up the canteen threads was impossible. I can understand why some people don't even bother trying to come in.
I missed the FResno rally last night (yes Louie, more cookies for everyone else, LOL!), but I am doing my part today by posting the pictures that Jeff took over on the rally photo thread. I've got to get back at it.
Have a nice day FRiends. :-)
See, Billie, faithfully following instructions!
The flags spell out:
"B" "R" "A" "V" "O"
"Z" "U" "L" "U"
Navy jargon for 'WELL DONE'.
This was a sign in a Chinese restaurant at Ground Zero, where we had lunch.

And see the white haired guy walking away from the limo in this one? That's Tom Brokaw who was there for the 6 month anniversary coverage. He was within 5 feet of my husband and me, but unfortunately, my camera was not in hand, and the man walks fast!
You'll just have to trust me, that it's really Tom! LOL!

Thanks for letting me post these, Billie! I have more, but this gives you the idea of what it was like. The only other place where I have felt so much like I was on HOLY ground, was at the Gettysburg Battlefield. It was extremely moving to be there.
You're lucky! If that had been Dan Rather, you'd probably
be having to replace your camera! :O)
I truly believe it was a miracle that less than 3,000 people died in the attack. It could have been 10 times more, but was not. There were so many heros who brought people out, but I wonder if there weren't angels who swept thousands up in their arms, and brought them to safety!
And your son is right about the fact that they killed our guests as well as Americans. But they don't care at all about that, because our President has got it right. They are evil.
For sure! And it's already slowing down today.
I missed the FResno rally last night (yes Louie, more cookies for everyone else, LOL!),
I bet you had Jeff bring some home. LOL
So, you let Jeff have a night out, huh? : )
Love that bear! : )
If that had been Dan Rather or Peter Jennings, they would have to have surgery to remove my camera from the back of their heads! :o)
around and sometimes I end up being an
. I feel
because I know I have been the Hostesses'
when it comes to violating posting guidelines.
I don't do it to be
, but I tend to get carried away by my
for the Canteen and what it represents.
I was previously informed
about posting guidelines. That calmed me down for a while.
But I was soon back to my old ways and had to be "reminded" again
I soon forgot again and I guess this time I needed a little more persuasion
(Bille has a mean right hook)
I
and I promise to be an
(at least for awhile)
I don't want to be the first to receive the Hostesses' ultimate posting penalty
Can I
make it up to you by offering you a new outfit
?
Whew! Ya scared me at first. I thought you were gonna say they might have to
amputate your foot to remove it from their _______ or something! :O)
Dittos!
The Blues don't look tough enough for the long haul to the 'Cup'.
Me too.....and the guy who sent me that bear. :-)
And the FRiend who sent me this one too. :-)

I am feeling angelic today. :-)
((((( hugs )))))
