God, I miss AIC. They were one of my favorites. Nobody comes close nowadays to the music they made

No, but they sure try. Many of the bands out now aren't exactly subtle when it comes to lifting AIC's style or ideas.

Personally, I always found Chains to be the top Seattle group. Facelift and Dirt really walk all over anything put out by Nirvana, Soundgarden, or Pearl Jam.

They were my favorite Seattle group too, with Soundgarden a close second. I loved them because they were more concerned with rocking your socks off than being The Voice Of A Generation. I've never heard anything quite like Layne's voice. Now that voice is stilled forever, and it hurts to know that.

RIP, Layne. I hope you've found peace.

Me too. For those that have only heard a few of their songs on the radio, most people don't know the range this band had. They could play songs acoustically as well (and in some cases better) than electrically, their voices harmonized perfectly, and both Staley and Cantrell could sing very well and very on pitch. It's too bad about Staley, mostly because he knew and everyone knew that this was going to happen one day. It's like watching a real slow moving train wreck into a car with the car just resting on the tracks...

The badn that's REALLY being ripped off wholesale is Faith No More. While AiC had a heavy sound, they're songs were interstingly structured. FNM was a funk metal band and that exact sound, down to the exact tom sounds on the drums, is being ripped off.

There's a band called Papa Roach, if you close your eyes, you hear FNM...there are plenty of other bands that sound just like FNM. I'd sue for damages. THe state of pop music isn't.
