Why do you think this is funny? Do you find humor in the attacks at the twin towers? What is the matter with you?

Gee, wasn't my comment PC enough for you ? What are you, the posting police ? People like you make speech codes at Universities possible. If you don't like my comments, don't read them.

. . . trip cancelled . . . .

Oh no, you're bailing on me, too? I thought I could count on you and Mr. Davis. Guess I was wrong. Well, expect no postcards or souvenirs from me!

Obviously a possibility, but flying into a building and killing a bunch of other people sort of takes away the honor of it. Why not just crash into a field? So I'm not sure this is a more "simple" theory than terrorism.

So you all are so sure it's not suicide :

The friend Franco, meanwhile, recounted his last conversation with the pilot on Sunday. "I am ruined, they used up everything I had, it's a group located here, they got more than a million dollars (1.1 million euros) from me," the friend quoted Luigi as saying.

His son mentioned he had financial problems and was distraught and that he believed it was a suicide as well.

Now can everybody come down from their code brown?

There are two mentions of suicide on Drudge right now.

Hrmm...Let's see...no witnesses or evidence of terrorists, but close friend and son both said he had major financial problems and was very distraught...

You all are right, it was probably terrorists :-P

Do you always believe everthing you're told? Read this little tidbit which was printed in a Miami paper just yesterday. How can you not even consider the possibility. I believe Switzerland does have its share of sympathizers

Swiss Police Search for Terrorists

BERN, Switzerland - Swiss police carried out a series of searches Thursday as part of an investigation into the financing of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

The Swiss Prosecutors Office said more than 60 officers had seized documents from several businesses and the homes of three people suspected of terrorist links. No one was arrested during the operation in Switzerland's eastern Graubuenden and southern Ticino regions, the office said.

The operation was carried out by a special unit created by Swiss authorities on Sept. 15.

Swiss authorities previously have blocked 69 bank accounts containing some $20.4 million belonging to organizations or individuals on a list of those suspected of terror links.

In addition, Switzerland is investigating Nada Management Organization, which is included on the list, and has blocked its assets.

The Muslim-run financial firm, based in Lugano in the Ticino region, is accused by the United States of helping to fund Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network.

Company officials have repeatedly denied links to terrorism, and accused Swiss authorities of taking part in a U.S.-led anti-Muslim campaign.

FYI, I just did some googling, and numerous sites show Italy to be in the 1% range for Muslim population. The same sites have the U.S. at 2-3%, which I believe is a bit too high.

I think a more accurate U.S. number is 0.5-1.0%.

I could ask you the exact same question. Do you discount his family and friends?

I have a hard time believing terrorists would go through all of the time and training to take a plane and crash it into a nearly empty building. They seek to maximize their terror, not kill a couple of janitors or somebody working late.

If it was a suicide, it wasn't an "accident," now, was it? Which is exactly what I and others were saying.

So now we've moved from the "accident" to a deliberate act--let's hear the rest of the story.

It was fairly close to their rush hour. I think they intended for it to be worse -- they would have been just as satisfied with a financial hit, which started out pretty successful with the downturn in the European market until "accident" was immediately announced.

Now what that means, is that if this guy had died/crashed before 9/11, people would have said "poor pilot" and then moved on with their lives. I'm sorry I didn't state it clear enough. From now on, I'll make a special effort to make things even more clear for you

What happened before 9/11 is irrelevant. Just because you make a stupid argument doesnt mean it means anything.

btw, how old are you? Your failure to understand a simple statement that I made, and then following that up by calling me a "stupid jackass" makes me wonder if your even old enough to vote.

Your statement is nonsense and someone who comes on a thread about ongoing murder cracking jokes is a stupid jackass. Got that?

When someone crashes their plane into a building on purpose and kills people that is murder. So once again back to square one, do you understand the difference between murder and an unfortunate accident?? Idiot.

I quite understand it. Too bad you don't understand the forum rules. Irregardless, we weren't making jokes about anybody dying, we were making jokes over the people who gave themselves a code brown over what's looking more and more like a suicide (and it would involve murder) involving 3 or 4 people in Italy.

What happened before 9/11 is still relevant btw (not even talking about the Constitution or anything like that). Perhaps your life changed in some way because of 9/11 because you lost someone or something along those lines, in which case I am sorry. I lost two people very close to me to a drunk driver about 10 years, and it was a long time before I was able to move on with my life, so I can understand your pain/anger.

But we can't let 9/11 dictate our lives or how we view things, otherwise the terrorists have won.

One man Suicide mission?

I think you were the first poster to figure it out. Everyone else thought it was mooslims, but few bought the accident story. How this story was portrayed is proof that the world media consider us stupid, but they can't fool as many of us as they think.

How this story was portrayed is proof that the world media consider us stupid, but they can't fool as many of us as they think.

Is it that they think we are stupid, or they just want to be the first to report some angle to a story and so are willing to ignore facts and concentrate on speculation? In other words is it about money? I think it is. MSNBC is famous for this. Like a train crash. They'll say "we aren't sure if this is terrorist related or not" when in fact, they have no indication it is. But they can put a spin on it, and because they are adding in "we aren't sure" they can capitalize on the speculation and try and glue you to your seat, even if it turns out not to be terrorist related.

Bottom line - they will do anything to be the first to print or show something to get the exclusive. Todays media is not that far removed from the tabloids. They will risk looking foolish or being wrong in order to be the first in case whatever they are reporting is true.

I see it getting worse - now that the print and tv media is competing with internet news sites, they are literally going to print and show rumors as the truth. I don't think we've begun to see the worst of it. Drudge is a prime example. They have a tough time competing with somebody like that.
