First of all, I don't have the energy to respond to everyone here. So please forgive me for being brief. [After finishing this, I found that it wasn't quite so brief - oh well]

I took the time read the majority of the links. Since most of the links point to sites with a definite bias (not that that's good or bad), I decided to do a bit of searching myself. To be honest, I couldn't find much of anything that WASN'T biased against them. That could mean two things: Either this is part of concerted effort by the Christian Right to discredit this organization, or the stories are based on fact. Some of the stuff seems really far-fetched, such as the "fisting kit", or whatever the hell it is, that Yakboy posted a picture of. I'm still skeptical of that one.

In any case, a definite theme arises from all the info, and it points towards these people going way beyond teaching tolerance. If that is the case, then I agree one hundred percent that this is not something to be taught in our schools. You do have the right to say no to this (not that I'm implying that you need my permission). I have run across militant gay groups, and they definitely do more harm to their cause than good. As a side note, my gay friends avoid those "gay pride" parades like the plague. They're probably just as offended as some of you are at the blatant exhibitionism that is common in most of them.

I will NOT however, back down on the topic of "what makes a homosexual". The whole notion that a person would choose it is ludicrous. Why would ANYONE in their right mind (no pun intended) choose a lifestyle that subjects them to the agony of constant harrasment and humiliation?

I have no reason to suspect that any of my friends are hiding anything from me or themselves. Most of them would have given anything in the world to be "normal" when they were younger, and many struggled deeply with all of the issues, from moral to just plain practicality. Many pretended or tried to be straight, and had opposite-sex relationships when they were in school. But it just wasn't meant to be.

No one here knows for a fact how homosexuality is "made". You have a BELIEF, just as I do. While the evidence for a "gay gene" is lacking, all that means is that one hasn't been discovered. Maybe it exists, maybe it doesn't. Nor is there any proof that it's entirely a result of environment or traumatic events. All we DO know is that we don't know. It may be that it's a combination of many factors. The code to the brain may never ne cracked in our lifetimes.

In the mean time, there are children out there who are desperatly struggling with their own sexuality, who have no one to talk to. They need help, yet are terrified of talking to their parents or friends, because of the prejudices and ignorance that they run into on a daily basis. That needs to change.

I'm going to move on from this topic. This is a hot-button issue, and we all know where we stand. There's no point in arguing to a brick wall (and I count myself as one). You did sway my opinion on this GLSEN group. The rest I won't budge on. I thank some of you for at least being civil, especially L.N. Smithee, who provided some somewhat objective material, and didn't resort to gay-bashing. For other like erizona... well... I wish you well.

To be honest Jenny65, none of us wanted any of this. I know gay people, I had several gay friends (two of whom succombed to AIDS, sadly) but when this group came out and attempted to force an agenda on us, I was compelled to act.

There is no in-between with this particular group. They will exploit any perceived weakness in an opposing view, so you can give them none to exploit.

Many of us, as parents, feel this group and people who support them fully intend to recruit children at an age when they are emotionally immature, impressionable and vunerable. There is substantial, no, undeniable evidence to support this. We also feel that these groups are attempting to undo the core values that families have raised their children by. In affect, destroy our culture, an action that can be perceived as the height of intolerance and insensitivity to our most strongest held beliefs. Basically a Hate Crime in action.

These radical groups are infiltrating every aspect of decent society from our schools, children's organizations to our Churches. Take the Catholic Church problem right now. While you keep hearing the issue portrayed as Pedophilia, the truth of the matter is that most of the children involved had already reached puberty. This technically defines these acts as homosexual in nature. The media has been silent on this fact, but check it out.

We are under siege by these groups who have invaded our most cherished institutions like a corrupting infection.

None of my actions have come from hate. What you're seeing is an overwhelming innate parental instinct to protect my children. GLSEN does not seem to understand how deeply this runs in us, but then, members of GLSEN have missed out on more obvious aspects of human anatomy.
