Daley is pissed. We freeped this with about 8 Freepers, but we were overwhelmed in number by the good citizens and gun owners of Des Plaines and surrounds. Among those attending were Redwing9, myself, CHICAGOFARMER, sistergoldenhair, spintreebob, TheRightGuy, facedown, and cfrels. If there were any other Freepers there that I missed or didn't meet, please let me know.
I did the best job I could writing an unbiased 'normal journalism' piece above. Let me know if it was good enough.
GOOD JOB FREEPERS!!

I might be a cynic, but I figure Jim Ryan, just might slam down the 2nd amendment rights on the most liberal state in the Mid west.
I figure in five years it will be illegal to own a firearm in Illinois.

no firearms sales could occur within a quarter mile radius of the son or daughter of any veteran, completely eliminating all firearms sales in the city limits. Laz, how on earth did Smith come up with wording that would accomplish this?

If anyone can, please post any press that appears in tomorrow's Daily Herald, etc.

Nice work.
We may be turning the corner on this issue. I'd love to see a Republican Congress casually overrule the handgun ban in the District of Columbia. State flatly that this will save lives and reduce violence, and that opponents are willing to see scores of black folks die because they can't defend themselves against predators. Then, once the inevitable drop in the murder rate occurs, use those stats to crusade for the restoration of the Second Amendment everywhere in America.

Woo hoo! Great job, IL FReepers!
I had good intentions........ but the usual Monday night obligations with the family came first. Thank you for representing those of us who were with you in spirit. As suggested in an earlier thread, I did make contact w/ several of the city council members to voice my opinion. (I have a semi-legit reason to be concerned about Des Plaines functions, as my kids actually train in a gym there several times a week - wink, wink.)

vocally backed by Richard Daley, the Mayor of Chicago And just where does Daley get off telling a city that he's not even a resident of (let alone mayor) what to do? I'm glad they told him where to go.
