Is it coincidence, or is something really major about to happen?

1. Israel issues a "code 8" to all Israeli citizens worldwide. Apparently this means they are needed in Israel, and are to return immediately. The last code 8 was associated with the 1973 war.

2. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is Israel's independence day. The evil ones are very big on timing attacks for symbolic significance.

3. A new tape showing Osama Bin Laden is broadcast, including statements about how it is time to attack Americans, in America.

4. Arafat supposedly issues a tepid condemnation of terrorism. The statement does not even make it clear that it is from Arafat. The Palestine Authority's official information service issues a statement calling for attacks on Israel, and America, in the clearest terms possible.

5. The U.S. Secretary of State ignores all logic and common sense in a transparently hopeless attempt to make peace. Absolutely no one expects him to succeed, but U.S. prestige is damaged by the attempt.

6. Powell's presence does, however, mean the number 3 person in the Bush Administration is directly on the scene if major trouble starts. It also means we have an extremely high ranking person potentially in the line of fire. If he dies, every Arab (and European) knows we will retaliate.

7. The Pope calls all Cardinals to the Vatican. He has previously stated emphatically that he will NOT step down. If this is not to elect a new Pope, then it is extremely unusual.

8. I'm sure other Freepers are aware of many things I left out, such as the alert issued in India for a possible Al Qaida attack on dams in India.

Is all this merely coincidence, or is Tuesday going to be a very interesting day?

Where did you read about the "code 8" for Israelis? Thanks.

It was on FR this morning. As far as I know it has not made the major media in the U.S.

Generally, I'm a skeptic too but I had the same thought as I was watching the news this morning. Add: DC Bank Bomb Threat; Arrest of top Palestinian Leader; E-mail from Mullah Mohammad Omar calling for new attacks on America; Growing media hype over smallpox; The Syria/Lebanon wildcard; Venezualan coup, then no coup.

Not to say anything is going to happen, but you have to admit the warning signs sure are picking up.

There is some comfort knowing that we are about 10,000 miles away at this moment.

Away from where? New York City? The Pentagon? Silicon Valley? Detroit? Houston? Seattle?

Be not deceived. The horror of "homicide bombs" and other manifestations of terrorism could appear within our borders at any time. After 9/11, all bets are off and nothing will ever be the same again. We all should pray, prepare, and watch....

Hope we are ready? Give me a break! I'll lay it out for you. Terrorists manage to 'sneak' in somehow and commit a heinous deed. What happens? Gee, we need more funds to prevent this in the future. Gee, we need better training, or a bigger database, or better surveillance or whatever. The citizens can't win because we're caught between the gov't. and the terrorists. All we are supposed to do is pay the bills while these parasites in Washington build a police state.

My mother doesn't watch the news because it just depresses her. I watch and read too much, and she's right. After the "Arafat, and Prophecies" thread, and now this, It can make you glum!

Today's the day I feel sorry for postal workers everywhere.

Today is their penance for all the times we waited in long lines out front, while they were in the backroom having coffee, and reading our magazines!!

I noticed something unusual the other day. I went to the post office to buy some stamps and saw a whole line of new signs in the parking lot, each saying "Reserved for Members of the Armed Forces." It's a small, neighborhood PO and there were 17 parking spaces reserved. Anybody else see anything like this?
