The only way to stop suicide bombers is to have a successful peace settlement. The PA must then forcefully prosecute those associated with the bombings with either life sentences or death.

Not only would I like to know who the previous "ruler" of "the Palestinian people" was, I'd like to know who ran against Arafat in those "elections" so highly touted by the press.

Did Hitler stop his expansionist aggression when he was handed Czechoslovakia by Neville Chamberlain in Land for "Peace" as practiced in the 1930's?

My son was watching Independence Day this weekend and the scene where the alien speaks through the scientist he killed responds after Bill Pullman (the president) says "how can we coexist and have peace? and the Alien replied, "NO PEACE" and then Pullman says,"what do you want" and the Alien replied "Kill" and I thought, you know this is exactly what the Palestinians philosophy is...of course, in the movie we take out the Aliens and destroy them!

Why this fen continues to fester is evident in your vacuous commentary ... the Palestinian Authority is a terrorist organization determined to destroy and obliterate Isael. The only 'palestinian state' the PA is willing to recognize is one situated directly where ISrael used to be. Ain't gonna happen, so the palestinian problem will remain until the King of Kings settles the issues. Palestinians have the full support of the rich Saudis and other Islamicists, so why should they stop sending their children through Molech's fires? This demonic evil is ancient, not something new since Israel became a modern nation. Demons feed on hate. Palis enjoy hating. The Saudis are praying to Allah that the Israelis continue to exist, so the Palis don't turn and bite the Saudi fatcats.

Greetings, A! I seem to recall that the Emperor of Rome considered King Herrod the King of Palestine. Is my memory failing me?

I'm sorry to say it, but the only hope for peace in the region is to systematically sterilize every Palestinian under the age of 50........especially the children!!!!!!!!

The alien replies, DIE!"

Why would they stop now? Sending over Powell to grovel in front of Arafart has demonstrated that homicide bombings can achieve political results. Thats right, by pressing Sharon to stop defending his innocent citizens and going to TerrorFat and begging him to stop we have legitimized and rewarded their terror tactics. Oh, the Bush Doctrine is dead also.

Re: Kissingers objectivity, I feel that he is a world class diplomat, and his use of the Realpolitik negotiating style is a hell of a lot better than say, Carter cutting the budget of the CIA and forbidding dealing with "questionable" sources...As far as I'm concerned those that supported this move should be ashamed after 9/11. Is Henry pro Israel to the point where he abandons common sense? It didn't sound like it on Charlie Rose. Its the Palistinians who don't negotiate in good faith, not Israel and the US. Let them reap what they have sown in full measure and then the UN can come in and assuage their(the UN's) collective guilt. I want the known terrorists dead or building their own jails in the desert before that happens. IMHO...

I seem to recall that the Emperor of Rome considered King Herrod the King of Palestine. Is my memory failing me?"Herod" was the name of a family who ruled in the region now called Palestine from about 73 B.C. to 100 A.D. According to the World Book Encyclopedia (article: "Herod"), Herod the Great was "king of Judea."
Here is a very informative website I found:
http://www.eretzyisroel.org/~jkatz/meaning.html
Here are some excerpts:
HOW DID THE LAND OF ISRAEL BECOME "PALESTINE"?,
In the First Century CE, the Romans crushed the independent kingdom of Judea. After the failed rebellion of Bar Kokhba in the Second Century CE, the Roman Emperor Hadrian determined to wipe out the identity of Israel-Judah-Judea. Therefore, he took the name Palastina and imposed it on all the Land of Israel. At the same time, he changed the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina.
The Romans killed many Jews and sold many more in slavery. Some of those who survived still alive and free left the devastated country, but there was never a complete abandonment of the Land. There was never a time when there were not Jews and Jewish communities, though the size and conditions of those communities fluctuated greatly.
THE HISTORY OF PALESTINE
Thousands of years before the Romans invented "Palastina" the land had been known as "Canaan". The Canaanites had many tiny city-states, each one at times independent and at times a vassal of an Egyptian or Hittite king. The Canaanites never united into a state. After the Exodus from Egypt probably in the Thirteenth Century BCE but perhaps earlier -- , the Children of Israel settled in the land of Canaan. There they formed first a tribal confederation, and then the biblical kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and the post-biblical kingdom of Judea.
From the beginning of history to this day, Israel-Judah-Judea has the only united, independent, sovereign nation-state that ever existed in "Palestine" west of the Jordan River. (In biblical times, Ammon, Moab and Edom as well as Israel had land east of the Jordan, but they disappeared in antiquity and no other nation took their place until the British invented Trans-Jordan in the 1920s.)
There is much more - highly recommended!

I forgot to give credit for the above extended quotes.
The page from which I drew the above referenced quotes was produced by Joseph E. Katz, Middle Eastern Political and Religious History Analyst, Brooklyn, New York. Essay is from the 15 February issue of "Time to Speak." [According to Mr. Katz, some of the material in the above referenced article is drawn from the book From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters.].

And thank you very much! I suppose I was confusing the 'Palestinia' usage with the scriptural stories of the times of the birth of Christ. I really do appreciate correction; I'll be visiting the site you offered.
