Low body count and only 1 arrest so far.

They don't have the punk's picture online yet. But it is in the paper and it's a beauty. When it pops up later I will add it tonight. Kinda looks like a kid I work with.

Great story. When the perps go to prison they can inform their new buddies that Snohomish is no place to mess around.

In CA the shooter would have been charged with a crime. You can't stop criminals with deadly force when they are fleeing, even if they did something dastardly. I hope they don't charge this guy.

Great story. When the perps go to prison they can inform their new buddies that Snohomish is no place to mess around. Very encouraging citizens are willing to intervene in such a situation. Hope the citizen who fired at the fleeing car isn't charged as an afterthought. Many states won't support a citizen firing at fleeing "alleged" criminals.
I think the man did the right thing in firing on the fleeing car but these situations sometimes turn strange if the local District Attorney decides to go after behavior he doesn't want to sanction.

The race of these perps wasn't revealed in the report, normally that means it's a minority. Does anyone know for sure?

Bad guys in WA have a pretty good chance of waking up dead; lots of us are armed.
Just one more reason it's much better than California.

In Washington it's legal for a cop to shoot a fleeing felon, but a citizen has to be careful here, as you say. I think in this case they could only charge the man with careless aiming, or failure to properly align his sights on the perp's vitals . . .

Rule 1: If in front of a vehicle one must disable, shoot its radiator. It will not get far and the steam and smoke will mark it.
Rule 2: Don't let a situation get that far. Shooting from the rear of a fleeing vehicle, one is likely to serve hard time in today's political/judicial hostility.

Our local radio talk show host promotes carrying for one reason as specified in ths article. He was advocating this after one of those shooting sprees, where everyone in a store was helpless. I agree to some extent, but then I wonder if we would return to the Wild West.

"Rule 1: If in front of a vehicle one must disable, shoot its radiator. It will not get far and the steam and smoke will mark it."
Where is this a rule? From my experience even an entire 10-rnd. clip of 9mm shot into the radiator of a moving vehicle (warm engine) didn't cause what you describe. The driver in that case was able to continue to chase the perp.s for many miles in his truck and eventually caused them to crash. Also, maybe not too smart to manuever into a frontal shot at a fleeing perp.s vehicle.

All around great police/civilian cooperative effort! I hope the shooter doesn't get charged with an unjust shooting.

Return to the Wild West, Ang? Come on, the citizens of Northfied, Minnesota are so thankful for the Second Amendment that they still
celebrate the day the James-Younger Gang rode into town as the annual "Defeat of Jesse James Days."
I suspect that if more people acted as the good citizens of Snohomish and Northfield did, many potential armed robbers would decide that putting their careers on hold made sense.

I was just trying to picture everyone carrying a gun--maybe with holsters. Actually, the more I think about it, most criminal defense lawyers handling violent crimes do carry. I administered a court-appointed criminal defense program back home, and was surprised to see this, but it makes sense.

The race of these perps wasn't revealed in the report, normally that means it's a minority. Does anyone know for sure? "The robber is a white male in his late teens or early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, with brown or dark hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing."
The above quote is from the body of ths story. They haven't said yet if the wounded man they have is white also, but I'd be willing to bet on it.
