The "modern" world forgets the time when might made right; which time, still exists throughout Islam.

This guy has a way of cutting through the BS, doesn't he?

Ajami is a great writer and scholar, probably the preminent expert on the Middle East in America.

Day after day I'm stunned that the Bush administration wants to deal with Arafat. That
has to be highly unpleasant for them, becuase they have to know it's not the right thing to do. Yet they keep doing it.
One day it will stop. One day the administration will regain it's moral bearing. One day they'll stop pussyfooting around with this bug-eyed thuggish clown.
Whatever happens after that, we can handle. And it will feel good to stand up for what is right.

Fouad Ajami, who could always be counted on to give sage advice and insight into the psychology of Middle East, is a great American. Wish he were more visable on the networks than he has been.

In the Arab world that beckons American power and hectors it at the same time...The Arab world as a rebellious teenager, challenging the U.S. father to tame him, and terrified he won't bring discipline. I don't like this analogy, but it may apply. Doesn't mean we have tofollow their script, though.

I read somewhere that Ajami has had threats against him by members of the religion of peace. If most Arab/Muslims were as thoughtful as he appears to be, they wouldn't be in this mess. It ain't all the Jews fault as much as the Muslim world tries to make it out to be. Taqquiyah-talkers. I have a hard time believing a lot of what most Arabs claim because they LIE so dang much. Even when they get caught in their lies, they continue to tell fibs. Well, I guess that many of them believe that Americans are gullible or they are just following the Koran which OK's deceiving the infidels in order to achieve their goals...

But, GEE...Bush is waffling on Mideast policy, the language of diplomacy is obviously a total myth, every government official who made a public statement has meant exactly what they said, Bush is the cause of the ongoing "crisis" in the Mideast, I've lost my faith in his ability....blah, blah, blah.
Sorry...I'm not a good, out-of-hand, Bush basher. (If I get good at mindless rhetoric of Bush-Bashing, someone please KICK ME!!)

Of course he is right. If we haven't figured out Arafat's game by this time, we must be awfully stupid.... Like the Europeans and our Ivy League elites.
