Former leftists like Horowitz and Radosh are much better fighters for our principles than anyone in Congress who tries to pass themselves off as supporting them.

... the emergence of a new and dangerous student anti-war movement, one that seeks to confuse its audience by the rhetoric of peace and human rights, while in fact seeking to organize a new anti-capitalist and anti-Israel campus activism.Yes, this is an excellent article. These little neo-Nazis must be exposed for what they are.(P)Where have you been, my friend? I haven't seen you around in ages.

I've been wanting to buy his book, "A Journey Through the Old Left, the New Left and the Leftover Left". Has anyone had the chance to read it? Is it good? If he wrote it as well as he wrote this article, it must be good.

Although it is true that the Left is using the same techniques that we saw them use against us in the 1960's and 1970's, the reason that they are so marginalized and unsuccessful (compare today's support for GWB with 1968 support for LBJ) is that their lies are catching up to them.
Bashing Israel and the U.S. while supporting Palestinians and Islamic terrorists obviously isn't promoting world peace, reducing world poverty, or helping feed the hungry and house the homeless. Championing a "living wage" while turning a blind eye to the wages of women in the Middle-East isn't adding to their credibility, either.
Nor were these Leftists condemning Iraq's conquest of Kuwait or Syria's occupation of Lebanon, yet they have the gall to claim that they are "anti-colonialists."
Where were these Leftists when Libya "colonized" most of Chad, and why are these Leftists supporting Mugabe's ethnic cleansing of White farmers in Zimbabwe?
Moreover, these Leftists blatantly lie about "apartheid" conditions in Israel yet completely ignore the apartheid of Muslims against other faiths in Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iran, not to mention the racial apartheid in present-day Zimbabwe and Sierra Leonne.
These same Leftists claim that Sharon is a "war criminal" but offer no such condemnations of those responsible for the murders of over 400,000 civilians in Rwanda in 1994.
Leftistm is bankrupt. Leftist leaders such as those organizing the April March on Washington are likewise bankrupt. Their claims can not stand fair and reasonable scrutiny. Their rhetoric can not stand against the facts, and their tactics can't be successful if the truth gets even marginal play in the media.

NEWS FLASH: These little rats are not 'new'. It's the same old vicious anti-Semitic sewage packaged in the same old 'class struggle' rhetoric of the various totalitarian psychoses of the 20th Century.
There is nothing new about EVIL.

Yes, you are pretty much right in your post. But the "widespread" pro-Palestinian protests are a pretty recent phenomenon. Scary stuff...

Thanks for the ping, good article. This "New Student Left" isn't new, they've just found a cause that resonates with the media. I'll be curious how much support these demonstrations draw outside of the hard core left and Muslim students, who boost the numbers big time, probably make these rallies possible in venues other than Berkley.

What I'm interested in seeing is how the left's anti-semitic turn will impact mainstream Jews in this country, who generally leaned left.
This is a potential wedge issue for us, if played right. The Jewish equivalent of the anti-Castro Cuban Republicans could emerge from this.

I haven't read this book, but excerpts from it. These and other Radosh writings have always been excellent. He did another book on the Rosenberg case which was terrific.

This issue is deeply dividing the Left. I've lurked on Democratic Underground and Smirking Chimp, and posted on other "non-partisan" sites. Two-thirds of the Left supports the Palestinian Authority, one-third supports Israel, and they're fighting like cats and dogs. The level of acrimony on some of their threads is quite entertaining.
Some of the old-timers over there are lamenting the large influx of new members, many of whom have Arabic screen names and draft posts that indicate English is not their native language. I predict that at least part of the pro-Israel Left will end up looking for a new home, and we should be prepared to welcome them with courtesy and respect. This is a great opporunity to break up the Left's cobbled-together coalition.

"This is a potential wedge issue for us..."
If by 'us', you mean Republicans, I suppose that is true.
If by 'us', you mean 'freedomites', then I don't think we really have to worry; the tide of history, for the first time in two centuries, is running in our direction.
Those who are attached to 20th Century socialism, whether of the Russian, German, or American variety, are fated for the dustbin.
These hapless patsies on campus are an irrelevancy; they read each others pamphlets and imagine they are part of a movement. HaHaHa!
They may be what Lenin called 'idiots'; but I don't think they are particularly 'useful' to anyone.
