How does one solve that? REFORMAT IT AGAIN?

I'd start by seeing if there was a flash upgrade for the motherboard.

HMMMM ASUS VIA or some such Motherboard. Not sure of the model number but I think that's right. It's what the CD's say anyway. Thanks for the suggestion.
