USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

Good Morning.

Here is a picture of a "real" USO Dance in the '40s. Note the shortage of ladies. We do not want that to happen at our dance so gals get out those dancing shoes and join us Sat. for our first USO Freeper Canteen Dance.

Save me a spot for the dance and beam me over. By the way, it is already Saturday here, so I might just get the party started a tad early. Hard to keep my combat boots shined here, but I am making progress, will be there with bells on, you can bet. Since I can't drink here, I hope you got lots of soda on hand :-)

Good morning everyone!

Sunny and a little chilly now, but it's supposed to warm up here this week-I hope. I'd like to let the kids play outside a little. My husband's heading to the boat this morning to check out for his leave, which will last till the 26th.

We're planning on leaving in the next few days to visit family in KY. I haven't been online much lately cause the hubby's friend took his computer back and we're still working on getting our desktop up and running. Got a new TV and a DVD/VCR combo yesterday. *smiles* Next up is the washer and dryer, as soon as I get the utility room cleared out.

Kids are doing great. JJ got an excellent progress report from school yesterday, complete with 'He's very cooperative and a pleasant boy' comments from his occupation therapist *proud parent beam* That's pretty much all for now. (Oh Mayor, are those F14s in that pic of yours? I live next to a jet base. I THINK I know the diff between an F14 and FA/18 now *L*) Hope everyone has a great day!

Possible disappointing news for me. We have a new data cut for the conversion I'm working on.
That means setting up and running the entire conversion process. It could be a late night and over the weekend job.

I'll e-mail myself all the Dance stuff I have ready and post it from work if I have too.
It just means that I may have to do "post and go" for the Dance.
So far the schedule is up in the air, but worst case is that I'll only be able to drop in for short periods at a time.
I will be there come Hell or High Water. No way I'm gonna miss hugging on all the Canteen Ladies.

A friend of mine just got back from Afgahnistan. Serves with the 160th Special Forces (Nightstalkers - stationed in Ft. Campell, KY). Hopefully we'll be playing golf this weekend and I'll pass along your best wishes; plus I'll hopefully take a little of his cash on the linx (hehehehehe).

I, too, had pity and told him in Freep Mail, and on the thread as well so the others
wouldn't be mystified!

Sorry to hear that you won't be able to do any dancing at the USO Dance.
I have copied my midi posts and saved them in My Documents and will then paste them on my posts Sat. I have just learned how to do this and it takes off alot of stress to get things ready ahead of time this way.
If you need any help with posting your midis send them to me and I'll post them for you.
