Federal prosecutors say Staten Island postal worker Ahmed Sattar was caught on tape with a leader of the Islamic Group terror network talking about "weddings" - an alleged euphemism for violence. If approved, the law would require empirical, field-tested data and peer-reviewed data for ESA action. Too much analytical modeling-theory is the trend, a method that has been shown to fail expensively with attempts to manufacture habitat for the Piping Plover in Nebraska.

This would be a good move. The only better one would be the repeal of all previous legislation that lacked such hard data, such as all the legislation of the 60-80's which foisted upon us the EPA, OSHA, the Toxic Substances Control Act, etc., etc., etc.; all courtesy of some (mostly) leftist scientists (and other leftists) who wanted to create a sinecure for themselves and to scare Americans into hurting corporate industrial America by conning them about an industry-caused cancer epidemic (see The Apocalyptics by Edith Efron).

Do you think the legislation will go anywhere? Looking back, there have been other bills introduced that are now gathering dust, at least one that I can think of that had more names behind it as co-sponsors. And so far, it doesn't look like there is any bi-partisan support.
