POLL ANALYSES April 10, 2002
Bush's Job Approval Rating at 76%
Public's rating varies by political affiliation
GALLUP NEWS SERVICE
PRINCETON, NJ George W. Bush's current job approval rating stands at 76%, his lowest rating since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The rating represents a continuation of the gradual decline in Bush's job approval observed since his high point of 90% in September, but it is still significantly higher than any approval rating recorded for Bush prior to the attacks.
George W. Bushs Job Approval Rating
The decline in Bush's overall job approval rating can be attributed to changes in the opinions of Democrats, and to a lesser extent, political independents. Following the Sept. 11 attacks, Democratic opinion of how Bush was handling his job soared by more than 50 points. Over the last six months, Bush's ratings among Democrats have decreased from the mid-80s to the middle to low 60s. A similar pattern exists among independents, whose approval rating for Bush has decreased from the high 80s to the middle to low 70s in the last six months. Bush's rating among Republicans remains in the middle 90s, where it has been since September.

Survey Methods
These results are based on telephone interviews with a randomly selected national sample of 1,009 adults, aged 18 and older, conducted April 5-7, 2002. For results based on this sample, one can say with 95% confidence that the maximum error attributable to sampling and other random effects is ±3%. In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls.

At the current rate of decline, Bush's approval rating would be around 62-64% on election day.

He is still higher than the rapist Clinton ever was.And you just know he paces about in his Harlem office telling anyone who'll listen"I almost had the guy, just 10 mins earlier......" Clinton's rating continues to sink, pun intended.

You might think: how is it that 2,3,4 polls with a margin of error of 3% or 4& can give you these results in almost the same exact time of polling. Media politics as usual, but you can bet you're ass the higher poll is right.

Well then, gee, I guess everything is peachy keen.

Yup, W. is repeating the same patterns of his Poppy ("read my lips, no new taxes" and "read my lips, no CFR")... Only GW never promised to veto CFR.
His betrayal of Israel and embrace of Arafat may be the final straw.
Far from embracing Arafat, GW has taken a harder line on him than any previous administration....and if facing the fact that he is the only recognized Palestinian leader to negotiate with... is "betrayal of Israel", then by the same token Israel has betrayed itself, having negotiated with Arafat for many years.

Not only the immigration thing, but he did not VETO the McCain first amendment violations bill, he is not doing well with the Middle East in my opinion, he allowed th Klinton rules on medical records privacy to go forward, he is bending way too much to get along with the socialist democrats. I cannot forgive him for not vetoing the bill on free speech though. I am really ticked about that one thing most of all. To not have the guts to veto it, and to have the Supremes make the decision was gutless IMHO.

To not have the guts to veto it, and to have the Supremes make the decision was gutless IMHO.I see and agree with your point. You have to admit, though,it was pretty good political thinking on Bush's part.CFR has already dipped below the Radar.I believe the same thing is happening with Sharon; publicly he tells Israel to withdraw, but he's on the STU telling him to do what he has to do.Just my opinion.I am disapointed in CFR,though.

It's important that we b#tch and gripe, even though we may still support him. After all, you've got to keep him honest.

You wouldn't know that by all the sniping in this forum at Bush.
That assumes this forum is representative of the Republicans at large and imo it's never been that way.... Look at the support some of the candidates got during the primaries only to finish well down the line.... or in some cases they couldn't even get a smell of the roses...

GWB's "unemployed dad" is 75 years old or older! Since when is a man of that age expected to be working? Absolute nonsense!

Shows how intellegent this a$$hhole is. GHWB was head of the CiA of the most powerful country on earth. He was Ambassador of the most powerful country on earth He Was VP And President of the most powerful country on earth and this twit wants to act superior to him. Gwb has a 90% approval rating amongst conservatives The 10% are made up of Rush,Hannity, and 50% of FR. Rush and Hannity remind me of the pit yorkey who yapped at Gingrich every day on the house floor.

Interesting with all the sniping at Bush by conservatives that the Republican approval level has barely budged. Well, I can't vouch for some of the so-called "conservative" media (but the game there is ratings..hint, hint), but I can let you in on a little secret about the sniping here at FR ----
Some of these folks wouldn't support Bush if he walked on water.

Zogby had Bush at 82% or was it 84, anyway, it was amazingly high for the Zogster.
To: vannrox
1,009 seems to be an average number for a national poll. I remember some polls during the election had as little as 900.
