Over the last few months I have become increasingly disinchanted with Bush's domestic policies. What good was he if he capitulated to Democratic values along the way regardless of his long term goals (broaden the base, increase the majority in the house, win back the senate, appoint conservative judges).

About a month ago I began to understand that Bush did not represent my values and looked for a solution that would not aborgate my responsiblities to my party. I knew that Bush had to go but was unsettled as to who should challange him in the next Republican presidential primary. My frustration was so great that I even considered a Cheney/Rice ticket in spite of it's obvious difficulties.

Bush's public pronouncements of this past week in the arena of foreign policy have sealed his fate for me.

Too bad that Netanyahu is not a US citizen.

Benjamin Netanyahu is one of my favorite personalities, and I always try to catch his next interview on FoxNews. I love George W, but he seems to be forgetting what we're fighting for. Israel is in the fight of their lives and the last thing they need is their "friends" holding them back as their enemies continue striking at them little by little.

He must have met with some senators today and said this. He did not address the Senate. There is a HUGE difference. Check out the online Congressional Record. The senators, individually and in groups, meet with dozens of people a day. But I still wonder about this because I don't know ANY senator who would sit still for a speech that long if it wasn't his or her own inagural address. Please clarify when and where this event occurred. Also, Yahoo is hardly an authoritative source. AdR

I beg to differ with you. He spoke to the Senate at 11;10 ET. CNN carried the speech. Maybe you just missed it.

You couldn't possibly imagine how bad it would get for the PLO, Hamas, Syria et al. if Israel were to conclude that it had been irrevocably abandoned by the United States.

Remember we have a president committed to fighting a war against terror

Really? Why doesn't the president seal the borders of the United States? Why have 50,000 visas been issued to Middle Easterners (non-Israeli) SINCE September 11th? An America with open borders cannot be secure.

I am saying that nations act in their own interests and even allies at times have different interests. The USA is fighting the war on terror on a global scale. Israel is fighting to defend herself but in the process has to do it intelligently. Making the world mad at it does Israel no good in the long run and makes the USA's battle harder. In the end the USA will be the nation to assure the security of Israel, for without the USA, Israel has no real friends in the world. Trust this president to do the right thing.

"Someone tell Bibi that Sharon has signaled us that Israel is self-sufficient. Since Sharon thinks God is on Israel's side there is no need for the USA. It is time to withdraw all our aid, arms, and negotiators. Then Sharon can do his will on Arafat, Saddam, Syria or whoever and carry out what he thinks is God's plan without the USA being part of his tag team. Let God decide although God may need some of Rush's help. "

What's the first thing Sharon did when those missles came at them less then 48 hours ago ?

He called the White House and VP Cheney called Syria and today Syria said they would stay out of it !

No they don't need us ?

"Netanyahu speaks in the name of his homeland and not in the interests of the United States. Remember that the USA has bigger fish to fry in the war on terror. Iraq and Iran are more a threat to the West than Arafat and the PLO. The conflict in the Holyland has been going on for thousands of years and will not be settled for a long time. Remember we have a president committed to fighting a war against terror that is global in scope and the with the interests of the USA at heart. Interests that may not always be in sink with Netanyahu and his country. We are Americans and must never forget that. "

You speak truth without forked tounge but noboby here wants to here it !

Israel is in the fight of their lives ...

I am almost 50. For as long as I can remember, Israel has been in the fight of her life. The occupation of Palestinian land came as a result of an unprovoked attack on Israel by the Arab world. The Arabs lost.

As long As I have been aware of the name 'arafat', it has been associated with terrorism. Another elephant in the living room no one is talking about is the Israeli Olympic Wrestling Team.

More elephants are coming. I have heard very few in the media (Keyes, Cavuto) challenge (read: challenged not limp wristed humming & hawing) the assertions that Israel is guilty of having running concentration camps and equating them with Nazi's.

Who are we to question Israel's right to defend herself? We have no right to do so. Tell me (not you, but the Israel bashers) what would you do if you heard that families in this country were collecting the big bucks to martyr a child? What happens when the question "Would you like fries with your burger?" is answered by blowing your son or daughter into a million peices while sitting in the local McDonald's?

Peter Jenning's babe today said something to Cavuto about the Palestinians doing unto others what has been done to them. Yeah, right. Try as I might, I cannot think of one instance of Israel sending in a child to do what Arafat is too chicken sh!t scared to do---fight his battles.

The Muslims see this as a war against the "West" , why dont we see it as a war against fanatical Islam?

So there were some Senators at the National Press Club??? IS that why the headline is the way it is and why people keep saying he spoke before the Senate? I thought that was wierd. I checked the TV and it was the usual Senate going about its inane business.

Anyway, great speech by Bibi. I'm hoping this Powell trip is a charade and once he comes back, we can follow Bibi's advice. I LOVED the slam about Europe - frankly, I didn't expect any better of them. HA!

Yeah, I want to see Bibi and G.W. together in a debate! No speechwriters, no handholders, no rules. So far its Netanyahu 1, Bush 0.

We give twice that much combined to the arab nations of Egypt, the palestinian authority, Jordan, Kuwait, and half a dozen other aid packages to gulf nations. So, you are grosly misinformed. Israel also allows the United States to prestage tons of weapons on their soil. The few billions of support to Israel is the best money spent by America.

To bring up the Liberty incident over and over again is rediculous. America has made worse mistakes and has cost many more lives as with great power comes great error at times when we have faultered. Such as Clinton bombing a peaceful aspirin factoryin the Sudan and than thousands of Serbs who died because of the United States and because Europe did not get off its but to do anything in their own backyard while we helped muslims slaughter christians in the balkans.

Hey hey hey.....sure Netanyahu is terrific, but he would do no better against the Daschle Senate and Liberal Media Complex than "W" is managing. Like Walter Williams says; "Sometimes you have to rise above principle and do the right thing."

Bibi is the most spellbinding orator I have ever listened to. Unfortunately when he had the chance to solve the problem of Arafat's terrorist regime, he blew it. Go to Jewishworldreview.com and click on Jackie Mason and Raoul Felder. Scroll down to the bottom of the article and click on Archive. Read the article dated August 27, 2001 for a very perceptive analysis of Bibi. Right now Israel has a combination it should keep; Sharon is a crusty old curmudgeon who doesn't speak real well but who can truly perform as a leader. Bibi has no equals on the stage and therefore is the best ambassador-at-large to plead his country's cause. PS I would have put in a link to the Mason & Felder article but I don't know how to do that.

I stand with Benjamin Netanyahu, and I support his views, his demands, and his desire to get OUR leaders BACK on track with the war on "terrorism".

I am afraid GW has "faltered" and failure isn't to far off, if he doesn't get off this game of "good cop, bad cop" crap.
