I am 100% Texan born and raised, and I LOVE TEXAS!!!
Here is link to a good picture of the beautiful Frio River which flows through Garner State Park.  Travelling through Texas in spring in Texas means you see plenty of beautiful wildflowers, especially bluebonnets.
Anyone who ever has the opportunity to visit the San Jacinto Monument
http://www.sanjacinto-museum.org/ should take time to watch "Texas Forever!  The Battle of San Jacinto".  I've personally seen it at least 4 times and it makes me cry every time.  I even worked for a short time at the monument when I was much younger, and got to do something not many Texans have ever done...I got to make my way up through the monument and see the view perched on the exterior of the monument at the top under the big star!  Yeeha!

... take time to watch "Texas Forever! The Battle of San Jacinto".

Another good show is "Texas!" in Canyon each summer. A great summary of the history of Texas.
