My kids go to private school and I thank God every day that we can scrape enough money together every month to keep them there. But that doesn't mean that what happens in the public schools don't impact us.
We have to care, we have to fight, we have to actively oppose the bad things and help support the good things. We can't sit back and do nothing because it's not "our problem". It is our problem.
Sorry for the venom, but I feel so passionately about this issue and have been trying to get people here on FR to stop the fatalist attitude about public schools. Nothing is impossible if we work together to defeat the liberal agenda on our TAXPAYER FUNDED public school campuses.
"...Publik skools now produce boys who - after being fed 12 years of politikal korrektness - actually fear growing up to become (gasp!) men. I have no idea what this will bring in the way of further social upheaval, but we are kareening towards a future where the home schooled and religiously educated generation are going to clash with their politikally indoktrinated counterparts in workplace and government. There will be two kinds of males: Those who believe they are second class citizens held in check for their own good and that of society, and those who revere and cherish family and fatherhood. The movement to marginalize religion and the family is the movement to marginalize men. Where will the dust settle after this clash between traditional Western culture and this "new thing?" I'm afraid to even speculate. A hundred million citizens were murdered by their governments in the 20th century - just about all of them by Marxist inspired movements "for the common man." All of those movements started out with a scapegoat class destined for "re-education" and confinement, and died of leaving legacies of gulags and killing fields. From my comments on this thread.
