The goal of the environmental movement is more than condemning capitalism, it is a cult which hopes to replace the Judeo-Christian moral code with the cult of the environment. You know, be kind to animals and do unto the enviroment, as you would have others do unto the environment. The elimination of traditional religion gets rid of alot of bothersome ethical problems for the socialists, like the acceptance of homo-sexuality and end justifies the means philosophy.

Yes, that's definitely a component. Christianity runs counter to the ideals of socialism, so destroying Christianity is a step in centralising everything. I'm sure there's a paganistic streak in many of these people, with all the mother earth garbage and all, but the mainstream movement is political, not theological in my estimation.
