USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

SAM, that reminds me of several years ago when they were trying to think of a slogan for Texas.
The PC slogan was, "Texas, The Friendly State".
That was supposed to be a take-off from Tejas, the name of the Indian tribe whom the Spanish used to name Texas.
Tejas meant "friendly".
HA!
They probably didn't see the Tejas Indians killing everyone in sight who wasn't from their tribe!
I was glad when they opted for the slogan, "Don't Mess With Texas", although that was a no littering attempt rather than a threat to outsiders.

Too many years have passed since the Alamo.
Our PC history books gloss over the fact that 182 Trans-Appalachian Americans, none native to Texas, died that day of March 6, 1836, taking with them over 1600 Mexican soldiers out of a total force of over 5000.
Men like Davy Crockett, Buck Travis and Jim Bowie - Americans by birth, Texians and martyrs by choice - epitomized the spirit that won the American west.

If we forget their sacrifice at the Alamo, how long will our history books let us remember the flag raising on Mt. Suribachi?

Now I know why I am so fond of FallGuy for I, too, like grits. Just had some with bacon and eggs for a Sat. morning breakfast treat. Mr. Daisy does not like grits so I fried him some hashbrowns instead and he was so grateful. LOL...

Here is a hint: Use quick grits, not instant grits. They are so much better.

The silly thing about Arizona is that though they don't call it Daylight Savings Time, they are, in effect, actually observing it. What they do is switch to PST during the Daylight Savings Time period, then they go back to Mountain Time when it's over. Same thing for them - just a more complicated way to observe it....for the REST of the US. (I got this straight from an AZ FReeper's mouth...uh, fingers, I mean.) If they just called it MST, then the time difference between them and the rest of the United States would always be the same, but NOOOOOOOOOO, they don't want to be like everybody else!

Before Sept 11th you had to look real hard to find Pearl Harbor mentioned in the newspapers on Dec 7th, but they always seemed to have a front page article on memorial services in Hiroshima on Aug 6th.

Out in your neck of the woods (yeah, right - what woods?), there used to be a dance hall called the Stardust.
You were probably still in diapers when I was boot-scootin' there, but ask your grandaddy if that place is still there.

I got hooked on "grits" when I ( Northern boy, from Chicago) I first had them in a civilian restaurant in Meridian, Miss. One of my good friends, Jerry Poole, was from Lagrange, GA, & he used to take me home with him, where his Mother would make the BEST grits, not to mention, biscuits & gravy, I EVER had. Now I got me a cravin'...........
