President Bush's Palestinian Bombshell

ON reviewing President Bush's outstanding speech today on the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, I was struck by the following passage...
"I call on the Palestinian people, the Palestinian Authority, and our friends in the Arab world to join us in delivering a clear message to terrorists. Blowing yourself up does not help the Palestinian cause. To the contrary, suicide bombing missions could well blow up the best and only hope for a Palestinian state."

Let's look at that last line again...
"To the contrary, suicide bombing missions could well blow up the best and only hope for a Palestinian state."

For the first time since the Oslo folly, we see the possibility that there might not necessarily be a second "palestinian" state in the Middle East. Jordan of course, is the first.
This is a very hopeful sign.
Let Israel be Israel.

That especially and some other things were definitely encouraging. However, saying that the incursions must end now, was very discouraging, and hypocritical.

Wow...I missed that part of Bush's speech.
 Excellent.

Let's not kid ourselves. Bush has caved in to Powell and Rice who choose the House of Saud and Esau over the House of Jacob. We are witnessing a betrayal of biblical proportions.
A man of deceit and fierce countenance will betray Israel.

Let's nurture the seed, my friend, and see what sprouts.
I don't believe they were chosen incautiously.

The speech was great. 80% of it pointed to the Pali, other Arab countries, and Iran and Syria's blame for supporting terrorism...but the only substantive action requested is for Israel to get out of the West Bank.
That didnt bother me due to the harsh pointing at the at-fault terrorists that dominated the speech.
But when I heard we were sponsoring another UN resolution demanding Israel leave without delay.........I could only think of the way I think of most politicians, "it's not what they say, it's what they do.

A man of deceit and fierce countenance will betray Israel. You are an idiot. Let's get something straight right now, It is not the United States obligation to fight Israel's battles for them, especially one this insignificant. They have Arafat in the net, if they don't reel him in then maybe Israel should just disband because they have shown themselves to be incapable of the will survive. Don't spout Biblical prophesy because God helps those that helps themselves.

I believe you're forgetting our approaching war with Iraq, who has WMDs.
We're in the situation Churchill was in WWII, when he posessed the German "Enigma Code." In order to win the war, it was necessary to sacrifice cities.
The reason Bush and Sharon "tolerate" the suicide bombers is because we need to avoid unifying the Arabs before we take out Saddam...
Not because Bush is involved in a "betrayal of biblical proportions."

It's not a failure of will, but a sense of priorities.
Saddam is a bigger threat right now than Arafat.

To: Sabertooth
There won't be any peace in the Middle East until we go in and kill Saddam. That will set the tone for the Middle East, and it will cut off a large portion of the incitement for Palestinian terrorists. Then Bush has to step up criticism of Arafat until he starts doing what we want (and if he won't, exile him and replace him with Rajoub, then try again).

Not sure that'll bring peace, but it's first on the wish list.
