Lincoln destroyed the great evil of slavery that was taring this nation apart. He did what he had to do, and it wasn't pretty and it wasn't nice but it had to be done. And let's not forget that he paid with his life.

"Lincoln destroyed the great evil of slavery..."Lincoln did no such thing. Pure economics and the industrial revolution destroyed slavery. Lincoln was just in the right place at the time.

Lincoln destroyed the great evil of slavery Seriously? Explain, to those of us who don't know, exactly how he did that.

Lincoln destroyed the great evil of slavery that was taring this nation apart. He did what he had to do, and it wasn't pretty and it wasn't nice but it had to be done. And let's not forget that he paid with his life. I believe you've hit on the reason the propaganda that the war was because of slavery was spun so viciously. Somthing, somehow had to be launched to attempt to justify Lincoln's abuses. I see it worked with you. Remember, history is written by the victors, and when it is, it becomes "history".
What would your comments have been if Bubba had done even one thing that Lincoln did?
