Leftist Activists Attempt to Smuggle Wanted Terrorists
(IsraelNN.com) Chief Operations Officer of the IDF General Staff, Major General Giora Island, stated that a delegation of Western leftist activists and reporters, who had entered Ramallah to show their support for the isolated PLO leader, attempted to smuggle 20 wanted terrorists out of Arafat’s headquarters. The terrorists had found sanctuary in the Ramallah offices of the Palestinian Authority leader, but tried to escape undetected by intermingling with the leftist activists as they exited the compound. However, as the delegation of forty foreign activists and reporters, along with the 20 wanted terrorists, exited the Muk’ata compound, they were taken into custody by Israeli soldiers.

The IDF Central Command had declared Ramallah a closed military zone, making the very presence of civilians in the city a violation of security measures. The reporters among the group are expected to face sanctions on their future work in Israel. The IDF Spokesman’s office stated that the delegation endangered their own lives and the lives of IDF soldiers by their effrontery.

The European activists and reporters marched into Ramallah today, ignoring the warning shots fired by IDF soldiers and the declaration of Ramallah as a closed military zone. They met with Arafat, posed for photographs and presented the PLO leader with a t-shirt. A French member of the group stated that “if IDF soldiers shoot, they must be aware that they are also shooting at European citizens.” They next attempted to smuggle out wanted PLO terrorists, but were, as reported, apprehended.

In light of the serious incident, the Minister of the Interior, Eli Yishai, intends to forbid the entry of foreign leftist activists into Israel.

Just one question... What do Palestinians have to do with "Workers?"

Easy. They have lots of "work accidents."

Isn't aiding criminals a crime even for Europeans while in Israel. Lock them up and throw away the key.

I expect that you are right, IDF got the whole group fair and square.

Israeli FReepers, what's the Israeli law on this?

Maybe while they're waiting there, they can visit an Israeli cafe, restaurant, or supermarket and enjoy the peaceful Mediterranean ambiance. Of course, at any time any one of those might be blown up by PA suicide bombers while they are visiting. On second thought, they probably are safer in the Palestinian zone.

Yeah, that might make those smug European sycophants wake up to the reality of the hell Israelis must deal with daily, that there is a war going on, not some acedemic exercise where there are no moral absolutes. Of course then again, they would probably just blame the US and Israel, like our good friend Robert Fisk.

Thanks, dighton. I didn't recognize the banner and couldn't enlarge it well enough to read it. At first, going by the colors, I thought it was one of ETA's ugly little banners. But then, I guess all of these nasty groups are sort of in there together, aren't they?

I think the Israelis can keep them locked up for quite a while under administrative detention laws.

The minute these fools showed up, a barrage of stun grenades and pyrotechnics should have been unleashed on them to scare the crap out of them.

Before they got to the door, they should have been groveling, imploring the IDF to Stop, stop, stop !!

They should have been made to wonder if they would live to see another minute.

The tiny bit of sympathy that I had for that shot Boston Globe reporter just vanished like a fart in the wind.

Clever way to capture terrorists!! Some IDF commander was on the ball to catch this ploy.

I think that was the whole idea in letting the peace weenies into the compound in the first place. Not only did they help capture some terrorists, they also discredited their cause. The IDF gave the activists enough rope to hang themselves with and they took it.

Isreal should play this up as if the activists and reported were all part of a plan to to talk the terrorists out to be captured. Thereby breaking the link between them and their PLO buddies.

I had to squint, but I think the words on the flag Arafat is carrying is: "Movement of the Working Mothers of the Earth". This is so funny, I have no words for it. It's like a King Leonadis of Sparta wannabee carrying a Lower Poughkeepsie Daycare Center banner.

forbid the entry of foreign leftist activists into Israel.

Does that mean that if Shimon Peres leaves, he can't come back?

Two things:

How could they expect to go in with 40 and leave with 60 and expect no one to notice?

Very smart of Israel - there was probably a couple 'undercovers' who could use the access to check out the offices...

Guess Clinton needs to cancel future trips to Israel.

One wonders if Adam Shapiro and that vile Quester were among these criminal co-conspirators. IF so the IDF should deliver them into the hands of the nearest settlers, to administer the inly kind of "justice" they deserve.

Yeah right, we know that was even considered. Maybe the other lefties, but not those two.

Shimon Peres and Yossi Beilin could be expelled along with the Reichlet Fuhrer and his Gauleiters to Devil's Island and never allowed back. Now there would be a true proposal to bring peace to the Middle East.
