Explosion at supermarket in J'lem; dozens injured, two seriously

By Ha'aretz Service

An explosion ripped through a supermarket on Uruguay Street in Jerusalem's Kiryat Yuvel neighborhood Friday, when a female suicide bomber detonated a large device inside the supermarket.

Magen David Adom spokesman Yeruham Mandola said that there were dozens of injuries, including two people who were severely injured.

Seven of the injured were taken to Hadassah University Hospital at Ein Kerem, located within a few kilometers of the blast site. Eight others were taken to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

Jerusalem fire chief Rami Yaffeh said that it appears that at least one unexploded mortar shell is still inside the supermarket.

Israel television said at least one person was killed, but there was no immediate confirmation from authorities.

Rescue and emergency services are on the scene.

Updated 3/29 14:45 Israel time - At 1:55 p.m. a female suicide bomber exploded an artillery shell near the door of a crowded supermarket in the Kiryat Yovel district of Jerusalem. A security guard identified her and prevented her from entering the center of the store. There are deaths and 17 injuries, one critical. Arafat's Fatah took credit for the blast.

Israeli police responded to stones thrown from the Temple Mount on Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall by entering the Temple Mount compound and evacuating the rioters.

An Israeli officer was killed and 3 soldiers wounded as IDF forces re-entered the Palestinian city of Ramallah early Friday and moved into the government compound where Yasser Arafat has his headquarters. 3 Palestinians were killed and 40 wounded.

This morning, the government declared Arafat and the Palestinian Authority as "enemy" and initiated operations throughout the West Bank and Gaza, including a callup of 20,000 reserve soldiers.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are reportedly marching throughout the territories in support of Arafat. There are mass demonstrations in various Arab countries. An official PA spokeman called for "demonstrations of rage" outside Israeli and American embassies in the Arab world.

Arafat ready to die -  - Palestinian minister Shaath
alt alt

BEIRUT, March 29 (Reuters) - Palestinian leader Yasser
Arafat is ready to die in a confrontation with Israeli forces
who smashed their way into his compound in the West Bank,
Palestinian Planning Minister Nabil Shaath said on Friday.
"He is calm, he is steadfast, he is sure, not afraid of
death. He never was," Shaath told Reuters television in Beirut,
adding that he was in touch by telephone with Arafat.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, calling Arafat an
enemy, said he had decided to send troops to Ramallah, blaming
the Palestinian leader for failing to prevent attacks against
Israelis during the past 18 months of an uprising against
occupation.
Five Palestinians and one Israeli soldier were killed in
gunbattles on Friday after about 100 tanks and armoured
personnel carriers entered Ramallah. Israeli armour surrounded
Arafat's office and took over at least one building inside the
compound.
The raid came a day after an Arab summit in Beirut backed a
Saudi peace initiative offering Israel normal ties with Arab
states in exchange for its withdrawal from occupied Arab land
and allowing the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Shaath said Israeli forces were killing civilians on the
street. "It is like a duck shoot," he said, adding that he would
try to join Arafat in the West Bank on Friday.
He said Israeli "tanks and and heavy armoured cars are just
three yards below his (Arafat's) office...".

Still wondering if the only way to honorably "solve" the Arab-Israeli conflict is to use "ethnic cleansing" (by which I mean the polite, but forceful relocation of all Palis to Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and/or Saudi Arabia -- not genocide which is how some on the left use it).

I think this is justified, even required, by the almost 10 years of official "judeo-nazi" indoctrination by the PA of the Pali masses. The current wave of suicide bombers is unprecedented, and is the direct (and obviously planned) result of brainwashing that started with Pali children as young as 1st and 2nd grade. What unspeakable, vomitous horror.

Nothing less than the equivalent of an "Allied invasion of Germany" will suffice to rid the world of this monstrosity. Eject all Palis, round up their leaders (including "clerics" and "teachers"), put them on trial for crimes against humanity, and then hang them in public.

I think solution to this muslim madness was shown to us by hindus in Gujarat. Hindus killed twice as many muslims as hindus victims of the train fire and that took care of the muslims. Unless we and Israelis are willing to do the same the problem will never be rectified. You don't hear of any more hindus being killed by muslims in India. If somebody had told me six month ago that I would be learning a lesson from a third world country (India) I would have dismissed the person as completely insane.
