Re your post #93 - In the AP obit I posted, printed in the NYT, they also said "Sandra" -- maybe it was a nickname. I don't know.

Yep, it is on my short list for favorite movie. I think I'll have to watch it again.

I was but a litty bitty tiny girl, when we got our first TV...but I always remembered Uncle Miltie, and indeed the skits with Miltie and Harold Stang were hilarious...I just loved it when Miltie put on a dress...

I met him once. My daughter was performing at the Thalians Ball which honored Whoopi Goldberg. I know, I know. Hey, it was my daughter so I had to go. After the show, they had a reception and drinks but I am pleased to announce that although daughter DFU and Mrs. DFU attended, I would not go mingle with those people.

My daughter also had a great job performing for a Pediatric AIDS benefit which included a live performance at the Universal Amphitheatre and a video with Paula Abdul. During the almost two weeks of rehearsals, guess who was the only one hanging around who did not wear a red ribbon?

Post #77 is not coming through, but post #88 is a gas

I remember one time, when Miltie was on, and wearing one of his dresses, with makeup and wigs, my grandmother took one look at him, and said, "What an ugly looking woman he makes" or words to that effect with a lot of profanity thrown in at what she deemed the appropriate place....that pic in #88 sure proves her point...but gosh he was funny, as a woman...thanks...

Milty will be missed. With two deaths of celebrities today, I hope folks won't think I'm too mercenary for plugging my memorial haiku group at yahoo. Check it out, and if you think you have something to contribute, join up! (I've posted one about Dudley Moore...still working on Miltie)

Yes, remember that visual? I think it was a few palm trees, bending in the shape of a "W." Like a mirage....

Yeah............

Milton Berle was never shy about upstaging others, and he sure stepped all over poor Dudley Moore. Bad day to assume room temp, Dudley. Sorta like a former Governor of South Dakota expiring on the same day as Winston Churchill.

And speaking of Churchill, I see that the obits of Uncle Miltie are taking note of his cigar-smoking habit. Yep, those stogies will kill ya. Milton Berle's life snuffed out, so to speak, at 93; Winston Churchill's high-stress, high-alcohol, cigar-smoking lifestyle caused him to expire at the tender age of 90; and, of course, there was George Burns, 98, I think.

President Reagan will go on a July 4th, like Jefferson and Adams. Every year I anxiously await the news around that time.

The scene where winters destroys that little gas station out in the middle of the Mojave is priceless,as were the scenes with Dick Shawn dancing and going beserk when he thinks his mommy is in danger. Oh and the scene in the basement of the hardware store with Sid Ceasar is a classic.
