Great news!

Time for you to break out the pictures of Fish and Game terrorists killing innocent coho salmon with bats and clubs!

Veneman and Norton are opening the gates as if it is their water to control??? Sorry guy, I don't buy it. This means nothing for property rights. It means that you made enough noise to get them to go back to the drawing board to come back later or put the screws to somebody else. It's not over.

I'll bump to that. I'm plenty happy for the farmers that they're getting a reprieve, I really am. But this should not be seen as a step towards any goal. I'm reminded of an anecdote from WWII, during the Nazi occupation of France. Hitler initially seized all the paintings from the Louvre, leaving the walls completely bare. But then it occurred to him that he could send a stronger message of domination by "loaning" the paintings back from time to time.

This is what our government is doing. They're trying to make it clear to the farmers that they view the water as being theirs to give or withhold.

I'm happy to see that most, if not all, of the good people on this thread understand that the battle is far from over. But I want to say further that no one should feel any amount of gratitude of any kind towards the Bush administration for letting people use their own water. No one must allow himself to fall into that kind of trap.

Good news indeed!

Gail Norton, Ann Vennamen, and Gordon Smith will be here Friday March 29th to officially open the headgates.

Have to give them credit...they have some grit showing up. But a photo op is a photo op in politics.

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow! I'll have my digital camera...BUTTTTT REMEMBER:

The Biological Opinion won't be published for another month AND that could end the flow....as farmers we've only been told that that the gates will be open BUT we don't know for how long. We have no idea when they will shut the water off again. All these "wonderful" elected officials will receive national attention when they open the gates and make speeches about how much they've done for us...will they also be there to shut them off with national attention.

We've only begun the fight. There are 16...count them...16 lawsuits waiting to be filed against us when the water flows.

For the past 90 years we haven't needed media attention or hoopla when the headgates were opened......it was a logical, natural course of events...

Sorry I sound bitter..I am. We still are afraid to spend money for seed, fertilizer, etc....if they shut the water back off, I'll have fields burnt from the fertilzer and dead seed....and just more expense.

Words cannot express the wonderful work and support we've received from so many wonderful people. God Bless Each And Every True American. We didn't think anything like this could ever happen...always be alert and aware..it can happen to you....

I'll have lots of pictures, but someone will have to teach me how to post them tomorrow!

Environmentalists are not terrorists. They are people who care more about providing for the necessities of life for generations to come than lining the pockets of the short-sighted presently alive. Jeez, wake up.

Great news. Unfortunately it's too late for many farmers. I just wish there was some punishment for those fish huggers for ruining so many livelihoods.

Having just returned from the former Soviet Bloc, I can state that Socialists are not Environmentalists, so even if you start out with good intentions, your fight leads to nothing but destruction. There are responsible environmentalists but they are never quoted on TV or in print.

Go back to DU and have someone change your diapers.

You left wing college students or even worse high schoolers on spring break are so obvious!

Enviralists are economic and eco terrorists! Associate yourself with them and you will be involved in a cultural war where we will not take any prisoners for the survivial of our families!

Now go take 30 foot hike of a ten foot pier over the Columbia River!
