But don't forget, the purpose of this site is the discussion of conservative politics...it's "A Conservative News Forum", not 'BushRepublic'

That is very true, I wonder why you are here?

A silly and a gratuitous comment.

If you all want to divert your minds from the seriousness of what went down today, feel free...denial is a wonderful thing...at least for awhile, at least until reality catches up with you.

I think each of us is capable of determining what our minds look at. When I see enough to make me turn against Bush, I will do so. Why are you afraid of us looking at the good things?

One thing I think is great is his stand about foreign aid being in the control of Americans rather than the U.N. This is a powerful move IMHO. Without others determining where our money goes, we will be able to put the money into countries that do not further hate for America and that are moving toward freedom rather than paying into the coffers of the dictators and terrorist training camps.

This is a far-reaching move if it comes to pass.

I don't chose to turn against my president because he doesn't do all I want done. I may get upset, I may loudly speak my mind and try and change his, but I have to look at the whole picture because I will never find a president that does all I want done when I want it done. The mere fact of having a man of his moral fiber, his faith and values, his love of this country and the character traits I see in him make me appreciate him as my president. In addition, I have approved of so much that he has done in this first year, why would I stop supporting him now.

This CFR issue will be handled by the Supreme Court and no harm will be done. I feel sure Bush knew that and he has defused the primary issue the democrats would have used - that he is against campaign reform - his presidency was contested and determined by the Supreme Court and he is in the pockets of big business. Now they have nothing.

We have to get control of the Senate or nothing will be done that we want done. No judges will be confirmed, no conservative supreme court justices - nothing.

Lighten up. I'm disappointed too - but we still have a good man there and I think that God put him there for this time. I will just pray that Bush stays true to God's purpose whatever that is.

More correct than you will admit.

John ~~~ I just saw this wonderful essay on the Dose and was going to ask you to post it here .... and now I see that you have already done so. Thanks!

I consider it quite an honor to be associated as a FReeper with someone with your skills, abilities, and pure talent. It is people like you who make this place one of the best sites on the web. I hope that one day a far wider circle of people will benefit from your perception and your way with words.

John, aside from the fact that our President (who is sworn to defend the Constitution) has just signed into law a bill that my seven-year old could identify as unconstitutional, would you care to comment on the fact that a majority of Republicans...a large majority...are angry about this? Won't you acknowledge the fact that this action undermines the base of the party at the very moment when an energized base is the very thing we need to win come November?

High poll numbers now are no guarantee, my friend. No one should know that better than the Bush family.

Your comment is as wrong as wrong could be. If you knew me, you would know that.

Since you don't know me, knock it off please.

Basically, this isssue resonates with less than 2% of the population. Most of rock-rib Republican friends here in Florida, for better or worse, haven't even been following this.

I am actively doing as much as any individual in the country towards those very ends.

The irony is that the means I am using...legal means, well within the framework of the First Amendment...will be made illegal after November 5th by this new law.

I have no interest in being a test case, but if necessary, I will.

John, so beautifully written and so inspiring. One of these days we will say we knew you when. Please send this to Rush he has been so upset. I don't know what you do for a living, but you sure have a talent for writing and I hope many others get to appreciate it.

I know full well "who" you are as a poster on this site. You did not vote for Bush so you are not betrayed. Get over it and take your crocodile tears elsewhere. You are not "incensed" you are delighted. This, in your mind, is Bush's Waterloo and are having the time of your life. You are as transparent as glass.

Far more facts than you have in your insinuation that I'm not a conservative.
