Explosion strikes hotel in Israeli resort down; paramedics report dozens of casualties

09:40 PST JERUSALEM (AP) -- An explosion went off Wednesday evening in a hotel in the Israeli coastal resort of Netanya, and paramedics said there were dozens of casualties.

The blast came at a time when Israelis were marking the start of the weeklong Passover holiday. Many hotels cater Passover Seders -- the ritual meal that ushers in the holiday.

We are going out of our way to declare that the fight against terrorism isn't a fight against Islam. Well, the terrorists enjoy defiling the sanctity of the Jewish faith, so maybe it's time to start defiling the faith of the terrorists, as that's clearly where they are getting their motivation.

The Israelis once dropped live pigs on a supposedly secret Saudi airbase in western S.A. This sent the message that "we know what you're doing," pissed off the Wahabis, and avoided the necessity for actual hostilities, all at the same time.

Regretfully, avoiding hostilities is neither in the cards nor wise at present. Israel and we are dealing with people who are emboldened by the typical Western response to crisis, which is to be conciliatory. They view it as weakness, not being reasonable. So, therefore, I think that Israel needs to defile every Moslem holy site in their control with pig feces - but not yet the Dome of the Crock. Save that for a bit later, if the Pallies don't start acting in a civilized manner - quickly.

I, too, regret saying things like this (generally being a very tolerant person), but this IS a clash of civilizations. May the strongest survive.

As awful as they are, these bomb attacks do not represent a fundamental threat to Israel's existence.

It's important to remember that the threshold for an all-out Israeli response is much different from ours. They're small and surrounded, meaning that if Israel ever decides to attack for real, they will literally be putting their country on the line. If they lose, they die.

By comparison, we never had to worry that our response to the 9/11 attacks might result in the complete destruction of the United States.

Little correction, this is an Arab slogan - "drive the bloodthirsty Zionist invaders back into the sea". The proper Jewish slogan should be "drive the terrorist Palestinians into the desert". (Sea is to the West and desert is to the East over there.

1. Not true. The Arab East Bank in Jordan is fertile.

To give a gentler explanation the sea can mean evacuation to Europe from which they came.

2. Will you invite Germans back into Poland? Will you give them back East Prussia, including occupied Danzig, Stettin,... Will you then allow them to form movements to form an independent country in the occupied territories?

The distance factor is irrelevant. The U.S. did not approach it as "Hey, it's Easter and the Serbs are Christians. Let's go kill some Serbs in a church!"

The Palestinian murderers specifically target holy days and innocent civilians to shock and demoralize the Israeli people. There is no comparison in my opinion. Furthermore, the actions of the arab terrorists are a pattern. This was hardly a one-off event in the history of the conflict. The U.S. doesn't go running around looking to terrorize other people on their holy days as a matter of policy.
