Networks like the Cartoon Network have edited out scenes from or simply refused to show animated movies with now-questionable gags or behavior like smoking or drinking since the 1980s. Among the most taboo of Warner Brothers cartoons are the "Censored 11," which depict blacks as fat-lipped minstrels or cannibalistic savages. Also, a lot of the great Looney Tunes of WW II, shown to American troops in the field, have been subsequently similarly censored. They were available in a special compilation a few years ago, but I do not see it listed on Amazon.com anymore.

I've seen some episodes where "Vitamin Pill" was dubbed in....Sheesh.

No Warner Bros. cartoon video tape library is complete unless you have a few of the infamous
"Censored 11".

...there is a place where Speedy can still be found zipping across TV screens ....The Cartoon Network Latin America, where, ironically enough, Speedy Gonzales is "hugely popular," My wife is from Mexico, and she loves Speedy. We have a neighbor who, at age 48, can't sit still. Her maiden name is Gonzalez and, yes, her nickname used to be "Speedy."
Hey liberals: enough of the PC BS! Let people enjoy life a bit, you fascist SOBs! If you or someone else doesn't like something on TV, don't watch it. But let the rest of us do what we want.

Okay, I don't remember those guys. As I sit here cracking up at the thought of Baby Man, what exactly was his weapon, a messy diaper or a wet burp?

So it's played in Mexico and the Mexicans love it, but it can't be played in America because white people might be offended by it. Sounds like racism.

hey! Those caricatures show stereotypes of black people. As a Mexican Jew hockey-player, this offends me; please have them removed from all public memories, thank you.

Hey! Simon Bar Sinister is dangerous Anti-Semitic propaganda!
I noticed as early as the 80's that the networks were editing certain lines and scenes out of Looney Tunes and other classic cartoons. It was irritating after having grown up seeing these cartoons dozens of times to suddenly find gaps.

This is why I recently suggested a modification to copyright law that says that if you refuse access to a copyrighted work for five years, that work enters the public domain. The purpose of copyright is supposed to be to get more, not less, available to the public.

I remember that Baba Louie had been edited out of Quick Draw McGraw cartoons. Whether Cartoon Netwoork (actually Boom!) still shows the edited cartoons, I'm not sure.

"These stereotypes are ingrained when we're young."Children are in danger of growing up believing that mice can talk.
