Thinking about it more, I live about 10 miles from a small airport, Meadowland I think it's called. It's on State Highway 24, east of Colorado Springs. I think they've had 3 crashes so far this year.

What is a "normal" number of doctors or biologists to die in accidents or crimes in the world in a six-month or year-long period? Until you answer that, you are TOTALLY unqualified to comment on whether it's a coincidence or not.

What makes this strange is that we are watching scientists who die, but the scientists who've died are both the top of their field and are some variant of viral/bacterial disease scientists. Also, there's been that so-called attempted suicide by one, and plane crashes for a number of them. And it's right on the heels of 9-11, promised threats, and the possible threat of bioterrorism. If someone makes a biological weapon, and wants it to be affective, they wouldn't want someone to come along and cure it. Whether or not the deaths are intentional, I think we should start looking into them. This is starting to get serious either way.

Just another "isolated, unrelated incident". There's no pattern here, trust me!!

**Probably just a sad coincidence(small planes have been known to crash), but doggone, a lot of scientist have been dropping like flies lately. **

You're probably right...but what number is this now? 4 or 5?

I already DID buy a car. And it's a lot better than a light twin airplane, IMO . . .

"Twin-engine aircraft are allegedly twice as safe as the single engine type."

No. You just have an extra engine to your funeral! Those twins drop like a ROCK! Landing speed before they stall is about 90 MPH. My 172 lands at about 40 MPH. I'd rather lose my single engine than 1 on a twin.

"If I obsessively studied every newspaper in the world, I could find garbagemen dying in accidents or crimes"

But don't you see! First the garbage guys...then the disease experts that would have naturally combated the effects of piled up, disease ridden garbage! LOL. Yes...you have a point about the DNA versus the disease experts....but I imagine the study of DNA might be more applicable to new bugs or viruses than it was yesterday??

Yep...I guess that was my point. Once you loose an engine on those guys, things happen fast and if you have little experience it is hard to implement a correction in time if it ain't 2nd nature....not a pilot...but I did stay in a holiday inn last night. :)

There may be something to this.

The life insurance application I just got had the following questions--

1. Do you smoke?
2. Are you over 10% of ideal body weight?
3. Are you a top notch researcher in virology?

Me too...this IS getting weird.

Yes, very weird. My next door neighbor, a PhD molecular biologist doing medical research was murdered last year, poisoned with arsenic. No arrests have been made. However, in his case it appears that he was the victim of a seriously bent love triangle. Its diffcult to tell because the "other" man promptly shot himself in his garage. The news media were camped outside his house when his wife got home from work. She opened the garage door with her two year old daughter, and there he was, brains all over the ceiling and wall.

Mostow was a crusader for better health, an early advocate for widespread flu vaccinations and more recently an expert on the threat of bioterrorism. He was a champion for rural health care and childhood immunizations. For the past three years, he had been helping to expand the 9Health Fair, a program that benefits thousands of people in Colorado.

ANOTHER ONE DIES????

It's like the Clinton death list. How many politicians have so many of their friends and co-workers die around them? The list is huge!
The microbiologist list is the same. So many in so little time. Too weird to be just weird.
I still think it's the DNA studies. It's creepy!!

4 adults and baggage in a 340 @ 6000' with an engine out doesn't allow for any mistakes. From the little in the article it sounds like he wasn't maintaining enough speed for the turn that he made and stalled too close to the ground to recover. In my opinion a 340 Cessna is a lousy airplane.

Found an article that said that the 5 Israeli scientist were on their way to a Soviet bio-warfare facility, when their plain was shot down over Ukrane.
