Train Collides With Beer Truck

An 18-wheeler and a train collided near Slaton Monday morning creating quite a sticky mess.

It happened about 8:30 in the morning, just off the Slaton Highway, right in front of the Coors Distribution Center. The 18-wheeler was just crossing the tracks when the train slammed into the back side of the truck.

The end of the truck was completely torn off and the side collapsed, spilling beer all over the road. The driver of the truck said there was approximately 43,000 pounds of beer on her truck, and troopers working the scene said about half of her load shattered.

"It caught the back of my trailer and literally yanked everything out of the back of the trailer. It was scarry, I'm still shook up," truck driver Cristina Adams said.

The intersection is marked with signs, but no crossing bars or signals. That's because the road only leads to great plains distribution. The accident is still under investigation.

No comment, I am too distressed :)

Why? It's not like any good beer was spilled!

Let's get a grip, folks. It's not like Coors is REALLY beer, after all. A truckload of Pilsner Urquell getting whacked by a train? Now that's a tragedy!

I watched a guy in Santa Monica walk right off the end of the pier and into the ocean. He was counting the slits and didn't realize he was at the end of the pier. I guess that when you're out of slits, you're out of pier.

Sad part is...I'm old enough to get that. One of those famous "college beers" from the mid-sixties...I always told the clerk at the grocery store that I was buying it for some 'friends' that couldn't afford anything dignified.

LOL Perhaps Extended... because the locals might be able to take care of the spillage given a little time :)

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Innocent beer...taken before it's time.....it never had a chance to be drunk...to enjoy the pleasure of mingling with beernuts and other assorted bar snacks. Finally, it never had a chance to be hurled back into the toilet after a night of joy and barroom brawls......This is too sad. I must go down a few in memory.....

Have you ever had Coors fresh at the brewery? It's a marvelous experience.

Good thing it wasn’t Guinness. The train would have been destroyed.
