More likely they were endangered "Lynx Hair Minnows" to stop a planned expansion of the water authority.

If it's just a pail, and the reservoir serves more than five houses, then there's no danger. A pail of even the most toxic stuff is going to be so diluted that it couldn't do any harm. I guess if the pail was filled with Plutonium it could do some harm, but if that's the case, you don't need to dump it in the water...

Your theory is the most likely so far.

LOL. Don't ya mean
POOL POOPY?
C'mon, lets not be too hasty. This may be serious. Better safe than sorry. If it turns out to be a false alarm or something truly silly like fishbait, we can all have a laugh or two with Race Bannon who happens to be one of my favorite FReepers. (Throwing the pail into the reservoir is rather suspicious. I can see some jerk throwing out some dead minnows; but why waste a perfectly good pail?)

I basically agree with you and would want someone to check this out too. I don't think it needs to be news however unless they figured out that there was something there. This kind of reporting leads to a "boy who cried wolf" mentality. I will continue to laugh at the "suspicious white powder" in the doughnut shop.

...or possibly Northeast Tree Octopus eggs...

Why bother to dump it in the water? Why not just open the car door and pour it out? I can see where someone would report it. Better safe than sorry.

Like Plutonium maybe?

sections of the water are separated from the rest of the water by some method they didnt reveal. Seen Charleton Heston around there lately wearing a robe and carrying a staff?

No, much worse than that. A bucketful of the dreaded intake pipe clogging zebra mussels...

Gee, you don't think some deranged terrorist group would be brazen enough to dump some
mind-numbing, road-rage-inducing neurotoxin into our drinking water supply?

Even the warm spots in a swimming pool eventually spread. I saw that on South Park once.

To introduce poison into our precious bodily fluids - why that would be
"the most diabolical plot ever concocted by the International Communist Conspiracy!"

Not funny. I have two phobias. One is shark attack, the other is being eaten by zombies. I live in Minnesota, so I'm safe from sharks, Zombies on the other hand...
Luckily I live nowhere near any cemeteries. My art studio is on the 2nd floor in a secured building. I'm safe at least for the time being, if there is ever a zombie holocaust.
Not to mention I did a sculpt for a toy company of one of the Resident Evil characters. It's on my website.
