Why the deletion

I was just reading a great thread on tyranny and whether we as a nation had crossed the line. The arguments being made were thoughtful and incisive. When I went to add my thoughts I was told the whole thread had been pulled and I want to know why. I support this forum financially because it is an open forum for the exchange of ideas. I can understand something obscene or personal attacks being yanked, but not a thread of this nature. This deletion smacks of the tyranny the thread was talking about. I refuse to spend my money to support a forum that censors political speech. I would like an answer from those running this website.

If you don't want to get burned around here, you might consider sticking to posts about moose and cheese. : |

"Its JimRob's house, and if you don't like it, you can leave."
(not my words, that's what you're going to hear, no doubt)

Because he/she's not the cool moderator?
To: redangus
I don't understand why it was pulled either. Maybe if someone happen to make a threat.

The deletion was innapropriate.

If we don't like it, we can always move to Usenet. It would be pretty easy to create alt.freerepublic.
It would probably attract a lot of trolls, but that's the price of freedom.

Do you mean this[?]
"Brie: The Wheel Has Already Been Cut"

The arguments being made were thoughtful and incisive. Good God.
Although there WAS one I liked.
I forget who made it.

So since it was the pulling of a duplicate thread and the thread is linked above, can we just post this up to an instance of house cleaning by the Merry Maids (tm) and forget the storm trooper, book burning, jack booted thug usual rhetoric that seems to ginned up every time something happens on this site?

Let me get my jack boots on and sort this out.

Then JimRob can quit taking money out of my bank account evey month. When he was running it on his own dime he could do anything he wanted. When he started running freep-a-thons and asking for our money he gave up some of that control. I have never had this done to me before, but if it happens again, I and my money will be out of here.
