USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

This from today's WSJ's Asides: "Like many law schools, the one at Washington University in St. Louis wants to encourage its graduates to go into public service, so it has a Loan Repayment Assistance Program that helps graduates pay off their debts if they take government jobs. Excluded from the program, however, are graduates who go into the military. Why? Because the faculty objects to the ban on homosexual servicemen and women. Rather than writing their congressmen and urging a change in the law, they're punishing their own students who wish to serve their country." I hope this is not out of line on this thread but I am furious and ashamed to say this is my Law School.I am angry beyond words. I don't know how to post a link but you can reach Dean Seligman if you have anything to say at seligman@wulaw.wustl.edu. He is not directly responsible for this. It is a Prof. Karen Tokarz who is the culprit. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they heard from some vets.

I'm trying my small signature to see how it looks after I downloaded it... It looks good. It could stand to be a bit smaller, but I don't know how to further reduce it without it becoming even more blurred. I think it looks good this size though. :-)
God bless the USA!

What is an American? "You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So I just thought I would write to let them know what an American is, so they would know when they found one.
An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan. An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.
An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.
An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each man and woman to the pursuit of happiness.
An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country. As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. The best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes.
Americans welcome the best, but they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America. Some of them were working in the Twin Towers in the morning of September 11, earning a better life for their families. [ I've been told that the people in the Towers were from at least 30, and maybe many more, other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists. ]
So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.
So look around you. You may find more Americans in your land than you thought were there. One day they will rise up and overthrow the old, ignorant, tired tyrants that trouble too many lands. Then those lands, too, will join the community of free and prosperous nations. And America will welcome them!

Probably a stupid question, but is there some way to save a ping list instead of trying to remember everybody everytime???

giggle. Yes please do keep an eye on us. tee hee.
I am sorry about your mouse.
I got my fisrt computer in 1997. I thought ok I am doing ok learning all this computer stuff little by little.
Then one day I was moving my mouse and nothing was happening. No arrow moving, no cute little hand when I tried to place it on something.
I got up and announced to FallGuy.... My Mouse has DIED. It is dead as a doornail. FallGuy said I had the longest look on my face.
I told him I guess we had to buy a new one or something.
Being the leader in our home. giggle... He took the mouse in his hand... my DEAD Mouse, and with one look said." Look I bet it just needs a new battery.
Battery???????? I was surprised, I had not gotten that far to realize it was not hooked up to anything. haahhaaa
He turned my little mouse over and showed me.
Then FallGuy did the surgery and gave it a new battery and it came to live like crazy. giggle
That is what happened and now I am a genius with my mouse. tee hee

Hey, philman!!
Good to see you, pardner!
Ten-four on the "square needle" thing!!
I remember in boot we walked down a row with several tables on each side, and a Corpsman sat behind each one with the longest, dullest needles that could be manufactured.
As we walked they jabbed those needles into our arms without us ever having to stop!
I never looked, but I know those needles went through each arm and came out the other!
Then those D.I.'s from hell made us do fifty push-ups so our arms wouldn't get sore!
HA!
That's like telling a man who gets run over by a train to jog a mile to keep from getting stiff!

"is there some way to save a ping list instead of trying to remember everybody everytime"
Next time you post a "list" look on the preview page and copy the list.
Copy the list and if you don't have an htlm editor program just e-mail the list to yourself.
