I don't understand the point of your list but Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is one of the campiest films ever made. Bette Davis did NOT need makeup to look scary in that film. I've written a letter to daddy..."

" THE BLUE LAGOON " and " WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE " ?

"THE BLUE LAGOON " was a Victorian novel, and NOT written by one of the Fabians, nor a Marxist of any stripe. The first movie, most assuredly was NOT left leaning, and I fail to see what was , in the remake. It is; however, a representative to that genre; it's a Victorian / Edwardian mindset, that like the GOTHIC novels, of their day, was a set piece and written as pop culture.

Could you please expalin ? Thanks.

Spartacus

Actually the writer (Howard Fast) was a communist, at least when he wrote it. But don't knock it, I love it when the villain (Laurence Olivier as Crassus) wants to point to a really bad guy, he points to the late Lucius Cornelius Sulla!
