You would have thought that with all the extremely knowlegable folks here on FR we wouldn't have seen so many knee-jerk to seek federal charges on a purchase for a gift. Haven't most of us purchased something for a relative recently or received a gift from someone recently? As you've noted, those weren't straw purchases.
Now if I'd bought something with my felon-of-a-bro-in-law's money to give directly to him, that would be a straw purchase.
Of course, I don't believe that any free man should be deprived of arms, so I don't agree with the premise of the straw purchase law anyway.

Well, I almost jumped on that bandwagon, too. I thought for sure it was a straw purchase under federal law and the reason I was looking at the the 4473 was so I could quote the BATF and find the cite that shows it was a straw purchase. I was astonished to find that there is an exclusion for "legitimate gifts" to a third party.

We're at war and I'm going to use every legal way in the world to bring down HCI and Sarah Brady. IFshe didn't fill out the form correctly and it puts her behind bars, I would like to be there to turn the key.
