Pete Stark compares Republicans to Nazis (on the record)
Congressional Records ^ | 3/20/02 | Pete Stark

Posted on 03/22/2002 5:16:50 AM PST by soycd

Mr. STARK. Mr. Chairman, I yield myself 2\1/2\ minutes.
Mr. Chairman, there are some of us who remember this world in the 1930s, when Hitler suspended the Bundestag to promulgate conservative ideology and not let people speak. It is a shame that the Republicans in the House, Mr. Chairman, have taken up that same ideology and are denying a chance for debate and open discussion of a budget. It does smack of fascism; and it is too bad, because the American people will recognize that and understand that in a free economy, and in a free country that created programs like Social Security and Medicare and special education and aid for dependent children and aid for people who are unable to care for themselves, for the disabled, that to deny them care is obscene.

I think it will be quite clear that, for whatever reason, whether it is deficits or anything else, that the overwhelming desire of the Republican Party is to destroy programs in the Federal Government, except those few intended for the very wealthy.

The problem here is with the terms "conservative" and "liberal". The've been morphed beyond their original meanings so much so that they almost mean the opposite of what they originally did.

Conservative used to mean "traditionalist", Liberal used to mean "open-minded". I think a lot of so-called Liberals and Conservatives see themselves in this way. However, from my perspective, Liberal now means "statist or socialist" and, I suppose, from the Liberal perspective Conservative mean something along the lines of "bigot (or worse)".

Plus, you can dilneate between social, political, and economic flavors of these terms.

The Nazi's were surely social traditionalists, but they were definitely statists. I'd say both played equally in their endeavors. For example, without the power of the state, would their radical traditionalism have gotten anywhere? Without that radicalism, would their all-powerful state have done any real damage?

Anabolic, you are gone, but here is some more reading for you:

A Little Secret About the Nazis (They were left-wing socialists like the modern left of today)

NAZIS. They were left-wing socialists. Yes, the National Socialist Workers Party of Germany, otherwise known as the Nazi Party, was indeed socialist, and it had a lot in common with the modern left. Hitler preached class warfare, agitating the working class to resist ``exploitation'' by capitalists -- particularly Jewish capitalists, of course. Their program called for the nationalization of education, health care, transportation, and other major industries. They instituted and vigorously enforced a strict gun control regimen. They encouraged pornography, illegitimacy, and abortion, and they denounced Christians as right-wing fanatics. Yet a popular myth persists that the Nazis themselves were right-wing extremists. This insidious lie biases the entire political landscape, and the time has come to expose it.

Pete Stark, as with his moral-liberal cousins of the discredited Libertarian Party, do humanity a great disservice by their trivializing Nazism. But then they are no great friends of humanity.

and of course cleverly named to mask its bias

You really don't know what the hell you speak of, you trolling little socialist punk. Why don't you pick up a book, a dictionary might work, (the one with lists of words in alphabetical, that is, A-B-C order), and edumucate yourself on what the words 'Free Republic' mean.

If you hate Nazism, you don't want to be supporting the massive, controlling, scapegoating, confiscatory state apparatus that SOCIALIST a-holes like Pete Stark are pushing on all of us. Get a clue...and please don't go looking for the government to hand one to you, you're gonna have to work for it.

The NDSAP WERE rabid social conservatives. So much so that they lurched over the edge into a racial purity mania...

Excuse me, but "racial purity" is hardly a conservative value.
