President Bush and First Lady Laura are on their way to Latin America for a four-day trip with visits to Mexico, Peru and El Salvador. In a stop-over in El Paso, TX, Bush spoke to a crowd about increasing security at our nation's borders. He also visited a local customs inspection area. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Sorry Rose, I hate to disappoint you but the President can't sit on the bill. If he doesn't sign or veto within 10 days, it becomes law.

More than likely, a challenge will be filed and they will try to expedite it. Mitch McConnell is carrying the water on this for now. Anyway, the effective date of the bill isn't until November 6, 2002 so the court may not even hear it by then. That means a decision by May of 2003.

Perhaps if the administration joins in it may happen sooner. I don't know all the legal ramifications but I do know that W cannot just sit on the bill.

Can I ask what your theory might be? Im willing to take ANY theory and weigh it, but I cant see any way Bush wont sign this. Him simply signing it shows he knowingly is not fallowing through on an oath....but Ill wait to see your theory. His theory is that he can outraise anyone in hard money, so it will not affect him. As can most republicans. Also it will be shot down in the courts, and no liberal journalist can attack him on it.

I am sorry, I didn't mean to insult all the women on this thread. However, I posted one thing on this thread basically saying that just wasn't the same in my eyes knowing he is going back on his campaign promise, and more importantly something that is by most accounts unconstitutional. I was told to "Take a Hike".

How would everyone feel if Dubya was signing a gun control bill? Would you still say that we should just leave the decision up to the USSC?

Don't be taken in by these people who claim to be republicans. They are liberals and fence sitters. Bush said a long time ago the Republican party could not use him as an escape goat. He said then if it hit his desk he would sign it. He is keeping his word. These whinners don't support him and never did. They are a bunch of whinners, one issue wonders. Ignore them.

Please don't change how you feel, if he does, RoseofTexas. I know, I won't.

Did any of you hear Rush, today? He had a caller on named "Evelyn." She was GREAT! I feel like Evelyn.

We are blessed to have his leadership, especially at a time like this in history. What a team he has organized to help us with this world we face, today.

Thats what I want Bush to do...sit on the bill and let it run into law, then McConnell and company can take the case and Bush comes out looking like a rose.... But I dont see it happening.

I believe a "pocket veto" can occur only when Congress is in recess, like they will be in for Spring break.

I'm glad she has done a lot for Dubya. (and our Republic) I think most FReepers have. That's not the issue. I just don't like being told to "take a hike" because I am not a kool-aid drinker. Sorry.

Howlin, if it weren't this it would be something else. He does not and never did have their support. They have been complaining since he took office. I ignore the whinners.

Well, I think you owe the women patriots on this thread an apology. CFR is not the end of the world, for Christ sake, It's not even law yet and you're wanting to repeal the rights of women to vote. Just a little radical I'd say

Oh Geez. I was obviously just saying that because I was being pecked to death by a group of hens. I do have a question though...would Bill Clinton have ever served as anything besides an Arkansas inmate if we had thrown out women voters votes?

Good Evening rintense, lovely pictures as usual. People if you will just settle down, I don't believe President Bush is going to sign this bill. I have this deep belief about President Bush, he will not do anything to harm America. I know folks are exercised about CRF, however, please just button you lip, it does not good to bash W. This man can be trusted. Time just take some time and have a cup of tea and listen, just listen. This all will come together for the good of America, and the President.

"Take it to another thread; there are certainly plenty of the Bash Bush threads today."

I totally agree. PLEASE, this is a thread where people get together to enjoy our President. If this is not appealing to you...go to one of the many OTHER threads.

You WON'T change our minds - don't try - just try another thread.
