I think the blue/grey color is good, subtle and easy on the eyes.
However, I don't like the blue font for the Article titles, I hope that's just temporary for the beta. Why not stick with default browser settings for read/unread links? The link colors should be a user preference. (IMHO)

I started out with the beta this morning but it was so slow. I swithched over to original and it was fine.

I suspect he means JavaScript, which hasn't anything to do with Java but sharing a name.
You wouldn't use an applet for website navigation . . .
This stuff really confuses you, doesn't it?

I like the look and feel. Very nice.
It suits well.
Altho I would like to repeat what someone else said about the 'My Comments' title reverting to 'Self-Search'.
Altho that's a very minor detail.

I am not certain why there are now differnt "areas" - perhaps to help the bandwidth or for indexing? But I feel cut off from other "groups." I enjoyed seeing what was coming to the "top" of the latest posts - usually politics, but sometimes a vanity or a cartoon....I feel the same. As for the beta version? It's prettier, but I'm having a devil of a time reading it- too busy, or something, for my tired old eyes.

Wrong. He's talking about Java.

People do it all the time. And it sucks hard.

People do it all the time. Then you shouldn't have any trouble linking me to one site that does, I assume?
I've never seen one. Plenty of JavaScript -- which is certainly what he meant . . .
You seem *very* confused by all this tech stuff.

Do I always have to do the heavy-lifting for you, Harr? Are you that weak?

You're either ignorant or lying. Which is it?
You seem *very* confused by all this tech stuff.
Follow the link, Harr. Or swallow the blue pill and go back to fantasyland.

I love the Graphics. If you spend any amount of time on FR the stark blue and white eventually hurts your eyes. The graphics soften that and will probably be easier on the eye during heavy activity periods.

How do I customize the sidebar?
To: backhoe
Hopefully it will all be worked out. I have to admit that when things are good I don't like them changed! :)

oooh wait...here's another one...
Grrrrrrreat. It only took a minute to boot the JVM and render the menu. Nothing like Java when a simple 2K GIF would do ...

I've kludged most of the programs to use the new layout, that must be a circumstance of the kludging. I'm rewritting all programs to use the new format, the <html> will go away as I install new software.

Since you are here, I noticed NS6 doesnt like the sidebars. It is putting your united.jpg behind them and making the font huge. Instead of the font tag, use style? I bet you are getting these recomendation from everywhere.

u might want to try this as the style for the body tag on your beta page
STYLE="margin: 0px; background: fixed url('http://www.freerepublic.com/images/flag.jpg') repeat-y;"
its alot better than the background tag IMHO.

Hi again John, There is some sort of delay working in the system. I'm hitting 'Latest Posts' (non beta) and not getting current postings. Reload brings them up to the minute.
