I read a few years ago that the NY Times' nickname had been changed from "The Old Gray Lady" to "The Old Gay Lady."

Despite the growing media consensus that Catholicism causes sodomy, an alternative view adopted by the Boy Scouts is that sodomites cause sodomy Thank you Ann. Pokey, add me to the ACPL please.

"...somebody needs to feed here." LOL! Is she married yet? She needs to drop a few kids.

"
At least we finally have The New York Times on record opposing sexual activity between men and boys. " If they had realized it - they wouldn't have protested.

About 1996 there was a big gay scandal in the Episcopal church. A bishop had ordained an open and active homosexual to the presthood. A previous statement by the archbishop of canterbury and the head american bishop had said no to ordaining active and openly gay priests.
The errant bishop was recommended for censure or whatever Epsicopalions are do to right a wrong. The bishops met again 2 years later in a much heralded conference where they were to decide the fate of the gay priest, the errant bishop and any future course of action on the ordination of gay men or women to the piresthood.
The Episcopal bishops deecided at their conference that no action should be taken since there had not been an eclesiastical legal framework of laws in place to cover the infraction. In other words, no decision was made because there was no specific rule covring this specific type of infraction. No rule stating "no gay priests.
It was easier to not do anything than to put forward any semblance of leadership and moral authority.
You would think the Episcopal church would have the backbone of the boy scouts but no...they didn't.
No news group or media have ever followed this up. There are actively gay priests in the Episcopal church and no one seems to care.
At least the Catholics aren't hypocritical about their own rules. They are outing their own priests to local law enforcecment on a case by case basis.
In our gay friendly culture, this is a major turning point in the struggle to save the children from pedophiles.
Why now, why the catholic church? If the boy scouts can manage without gay leadership then certainly the catholic church can too. Thismay be a turning point in the effort to keep active practicing homosexuals away from vulnerable children and adults as well.

Don't you think that was over the top? Tasteless?
How is a remark like that going to help solve anything?

I am sad to say that in certain places like Boston they were not doing this earlier.

Even in the midst of the Catholic Church's current scandals including decades-old cases the Catholic clergy has about the same percentage of perverts as the Yale faculty. There are more than 45,000 priests in America and, so far, 55 exposed abusers. There are 836 tenured professors at Yale, and one proved child molester convicted just last month. It is SO nice to see some perspective given to this!

Interesting how this is all of a sudden sounding like the end of the Catholic Church. It's been around for almost 2000 years making it one of the oldest bureaucracies in the world. The Catholic Faith and Church will survive this.
