Former Planned Parenthood President Denounces Abortion
www.nonpareilonline.com | March 20, 2002 | Robert L. Kirchner,

Posted on 03/20/2002 4:40:20 PM PST by Mean Daddy

I write this letter as a past president of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of Omaha and Council Bluffs. Since that time, some 25 years ago, I now realize how utterly wrong abortion is for both mother and child. I thought and firmly believed as many of you now do, that a child growing inside its mother was not really a child, and that women had the "right to choose" to terminate her pregnancy, for whatever reason she believed sufficient. It was even believed that society was better off for it as it was less expensive to pay for an abortion than to add another person to the growing welfare roll. How wrong these beliefs were, and how wrong it was to hold them.

I write to speak out plainly and totally against the abortion business coming to Council Bluffs. As importantly, I also want to encourage you and give you hope that the murderous abomination of abortion can be overcome. However, before we can overcome it in our communities and nation, we must first overcome it in each of our minds and hearts. I implore you to look beyond the rhetoric of the "woman's right to choose," as I did. Don't hide your eyes or look away. Look at the graphic picture of the unborn whose lives are so excruciatingly taken, whose fragile bodies are so viciously torn apart inside their mother's bodies. How can you look at that violence and utterly deny that child's humanity with the simple phrase, "it is the woman's right to choose?"

We are individually, and as a nation, grief stricken and angered even to war over the evil inflicted on us as a result of the World Trade Center attack. We each take what happened in New York City and in Washington, D.C., very personally, and that an attack on those who died, is an attack on us all. The victims were all innocent, not one person who went to work that day anticipated that their life would be ripped away. They did not choose to die that day. Yet, it is with callous impunity that, at worst, we welcome abortion clinics into our city, or at best, we just look the other way. In so doing, you and I allow hundreds of thousands of defenseless and innocent people to die each year in this great nation; a nation that takes well-deserved pride in its zeal to help the defenseless. Are the babies growing comfortably inside their mothers and then violently killed by abortion any less defenseless than World Trade Center victims? How can we be outraged at one and not the other?

I pray that all of you who read this letter and who believe as I used to, look beyond the "right to choose" rhetoric and discover for yourselves, as I did, the humanity of the unborn and their superseding right to live. This violence has no place in Council Bluffs or our nation.

Former Planned Parenthood President Denounces Abortion

And if you leave God's path and go astray, you will hear a Voice behind you say, "No,this is the way; walk here.
Isaiah 30:21

``When I arrived [at the clinic], there was a long line up of other women waiting for their abortions. I could not see the doctor until I waited a long time. Eventually he saw me. He did an ultrasound examination of my abdomen to see the baby. When I asked to see it, he refused. I asked him how big the baby was. He would not tell me. He said the abortion was going to be easy ... However, by that time of the day I did not have time to wait for the abortion as I had to do some homework for school. I explained that I had to leave. An appointment for the abortion was arranged for the next day, Nov. 3, 1992. By that time in my pregnancy, I could already feel the baby move inside me. I cried a lot on Nov. 3rd before I went to the clinic. However, I stopped crying as I made my way to the clinic for my appointment at 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival at the Clinic, I saw ladies outside carrying pictures of unborn babies. I looked at the pictures and thought about my own baby. As I was going towards the door a lady asked me `Can we help you?' I started crying ... They asked if I knew how the baby looks like and they showed me a book about how a baby looks like as it grows inside a mother. They also asked me about why I wanted an abortion. I told them about my financial problems ... (They) helped me by paying my rent and helping to pay for groceries (and) with maternity clothes and things for the baby. My daughter Emily was born on April 8, 1993.''

Have you ever had to deal with a woman that went through with it and years later realized the error of her ways? What sorrow such a woman can carry into middle age.

So true! Yet, people still refuse to see their own hypocrisy. What a horrible death for alittle baby.

The abortion industry is a multi-billion dollar industry.
That kind of money can just suck the soul and humanity out of weak people who probably were not very good people to begin with. It is a rare thing for a person to shake off their sickness and return to the world of decency, shame, and honor. Robert Kirchner is a brave and rare person, and I congratulate him. There is not much hope for most of the "Planned Parenthood" rodents but the good news is that apparently there is some hope.
