Bush has created a problem that the Republocrats must clearly identify. There is no two party system in America. It is a single "locked-stepped" political party from two directions: one is a swift method of socializing America and the other is a slower method to accomplish the same process.

The two major political parties are not at odds over the Constitution. They firmly believe it is an old document that is written by simple Congressional legislation. Just like Bush's endorsement of CFR.

BTW, Bush signed the Patriot Act giving law enforcement carte blanche over your individual rights of liberty guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. Moreover Bush permitted the largest violator of human crimes to receive permanent trade status (MFN) with the US. Bush wants to sign methods to legalize criminals that illegally entered our nation.

I am convinced that there are blind people on FR, particularly because of folks like you.

Well said. I can only add that together they form a ratchet, pragmatically trading votes on issues so that cumulatively we degenerate at an ever faster pace.

There is only one reason I could see Bush caving on this issue, and it would be similar to why Bush Sr. caved on taxes in 1990.

I think Daschle made some threat about funding for the war on terror. Period. Given a choice between vetoing the bill and seeing the rug pulled out from our troops who are IN COMBAT, or signing the thing so we can win the war we are in, what would you do, knowing the media will cover fo rthe a$$hole who just gave you that Hobson's choice?

I'm still angry he's going along with this abominable bill, but he's had a good track record aside from this action. Frankly, I think there is more than what we see in this statement. Stuff the press won't report.

Besides, Congressman Billybob and others seem to think they can kill this bill outright and permanently. And having it killed permanently will still make all this worthwhile, and Bush will has set it up by signing the frigging thing. We aren't dead yet.
