I think he will let it go through knowing that it never will stand up in court. He then will look good to reformers while not loosing anything.

I think that would be a gross miscalculation on his part.

Bull. The media will make him look like a two-faced politician like they did his dad. Remember "Read my lips.."

1st - That would be dishonest and hypocrital, so I hope he doesn't disappoint me like that.
2nd - If he does that, he risks the wrath of his core voters in 2004, because he would have basically shafted them. I hope he's not that stupid.

I think he will sign it too, but think how good he would look if he vetoed it and then they overide the veto and it becomes law and then the Supremes throw it out. That would be a big 'I told you so'.

How about credibility and trust. During the primaries he said that this bill was unconstitutional. He took the oath of office declaring to uphold the constitution. Doesn't an oath mean anything anymore? Or has everyone succumbed to the Clinton mentality.
Is it not better to do what is right and take the consequence (if there really is a consequence to this)?
It was the grassroots and groups such as the NRA that saved this election - saved his butt. If he signs this he's lost the base. This is political suicide, in my opinion.

Will not lose anything? His name would forever go on the bill that became law that was deemed unconstitutional. I would say that is pretty serious.

"I think he will let it go through knowing that it never will stand up in court. He then will look good to reformers while not loosing anything." Exactly
If ONLY the American People understood what this stupid bill is all about. They would be up in arms. Most people don't give a rats behind.
THIS BILL WILL NEVER STAND UP IN COURT.
