How precious I'm sure it was to see the elderly gentleman stand and touch his heart for the anthem. I cry when the anthem is sung..it's so meaningful to me. We need a good dose of reality to really appreciate what this country stands for.

I took my daughter to a Monarchs game (Women's Pro Basketball) last year. Great seats...we were so excited to be there. The anthem began playing...most everybody stood for the anthem but very very very few touched their hearts. Instead, most left their caps on, chewing gum, eating, and being generally disrespectful. Only 2 basketball players showed proper respect. It was a great lesson for my daughter..she noticed it as well. I have quite the patriotic almost 12 year old. :o)
